Week 4 of the 20-21 School Year
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
    they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
Greetings MLS Families,

We will be holding our National Honor Society Induction on October 21st during our virtual Chapel. Students were notified if they were accepted into NHS or JNHS this past week.

On Monday, October 5th we will recognize World Day of Bullying Prevention™!  On this day students, schools, and communities all over the world go BLUE together against bullying. Join us in solidarity to stop bullying and cyberbullying on Monday, October 5th, 2020! Make it the day that bullying prevention is heard around the world! Students who are attending school that day will be able to dress down. You will be allowed to wear either blue jeans, black jeans (no ripped, torn, or frayed), or black sweatpants. Any sneaker can be worn, no open shoes (such as crocs) allowed, and a BLUE shirt!. Remote students, you are encouraged to wear a blue shirt as well!

In the event a teacher is absent, an assignment will be posted on Blackbaud under their class page. The assignment must be submitted by end of the class period and will count as their attendance for that class. If you are a remote student, and the teacher doesn't open the zoom room for that class within a minute or two of the start time, you should check blackbaud for a message from your teacher.

Thanks to the efforts of our Cougar Parent Club, Cohen Children's Medical Center Northwell Health will be providing MLS with a workshop for parents on Vaping. The workshop will be held on zoom on October 29th, 2020 at 6pm. Registration details will be provided later in the month.

Reminders:
  • Please submit your emergency cards, proof of updated immunizations and health forms if you haven't already done so.
  • Zoom codes can be found on Blackbaud on each class page.
  • Students must submit the daily health screening sent out by Mr. Fredericksen each morning. Both remote and hybrid students must complete the daily survey, as per DOH mandate. We are asking all hybrid students to complete this survey in the morning before they arrive at school to expedite entry into the building. If you are a remote student, the survey must be completed before 1st period.
  • Our Counseling department is looking to donate packages to “Coalition for the Homeless” in New York City. This is an opportunity for our students to come together and serve the community. They have created an Amazon Wish list and are actively looking for donations.
  • Charleston Wrap orders due October 30th. Please See Attachment Here for more details.

Have a great week,
Mrs. Younghese
