Week 1 of the 20-21 School Year
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
Philippians 4:4
Greetings MLS Families,

MLS students are truly amazing! We completed two successful days of classes. This success can be attributed to the students, parents, teachers and staff of MLS. I want to thank each of you for your patience as we navigate through these difficult times. We will have our Opening Chapel Service on Wednesday, Sept. 16th at 8:05am. We will follow with Chapel Bells. Log on information will be provided to students prior to Chapel.

Due to the current weather and the requirement of wearing the mask, students will be allowed to wear a cougar gear T-shirt without the polo shirt on top.

Students are allowed to use earphones/airpods in the classroom to help with the audio of those in the class and those listening from home.

Parents expressed concern regarding mask breaks and we understand this is challenging for all. If students need a mask break, they must ask the teacher for permission to step into the hallway for a few minutes. Students must remain in view and re-enter the room with their mask on.

When coverage allows, we will permit students to go into the parking lot during lunch time for a mask break.

As previously mentioned, our Cougar Parent Club distributed Charleston Wrap catalogs at Orientation. Items can be purchased and shipped directly to the home or delivered to school. You can also order online. Please See Attachment Here

Please note that the cafeteria is operating on a cashless system; payment is made through PaySchools Central and is linked to your student's id number and barcode on their ID card. The account can also be accessed by school personnel by the student name in case the card is forgotten.

You can add money to your student's account by setting up an account at https://payschoolscentral.com/#/user/login or you can add money to the amount through the finance office. Cash will be accepted by the finance office; it should be in an envelope marked with the student's name and "lunch". There is also information on Blackbaud on the resource board; look for Lunch - Payschools Information.

As we start the school year and accounts are being set up or money added to the ID cards, we will extend credit for any students making purchases in the cafeteria. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Fredericksen ([email protected]).

Reminders:
  • Please submit your emergency cards, proof of updated immunizations and health forms if you haven't already done so.
  • Zoom codes can be found on Blackbaud on each class page.
  • Students must submit the daily health screening sent out by Mr. Fredericksen each morning. Both remote and hybrid students must complete the daily survey, as per DOH mandate. We are asking all hybrid students to complete this survey in the morning before they arrive at school to expedite entry into the building. If you are a remote student, the survey must be completed before 1st period.

Have a great week,
Mrs. Younghese
