As the fall season sets in, we are thrilled to unveil the latest edition of the ACTE newsletter, and with it, an exciting introduction to the 2024 National ACTE Vision Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
In this fall newsletter, we invite you to embark on a journey with us, exploring the PACE Division's key initiatives, resources, and success stories. Learn how we are breaking new ground in the realm of career and technical education, ensuring that both educators and learners are well-prepared to meet the demands of tomorrow's workforce.
As we introduce the PACE Division in this fall newsletter, we encourage you to engage, connect, and share your thoughts. Your feedback and participation are instrumental in shaping the future of postsecondary career and technical education, and we are excited to embark on this journey with you.

Postsecondary Convening Summary

This September, ACTE hosted a couple of unique events for postsecondary professionals in the beautiful city of Denver, Colorado, during the week of Sept. 18–22.
The first was an invite only event sponsored by the ECMC foundation for past and present ACTE NextLevel fellows as well as additional fellowships the ECMC sponsors. These events have catered to developing the diverse leadership pipeline and research in the post-secondary sector. The ECMC portion of the event consisted of a variety of continued leadership training and included a site visit to the Community College of Aurora in the metro Denver area. This tour consisted of unique programs in the healthcare and first aid fields. These site visits provide a valuable opportunity to see what other programs are doing across the country. If you are interested in taking your postsecondary leadership skills to the Next Level, applications open every September for the ACTE Next Level program.
The second portion of the week included the ACTE Postsecondary CTE Summit. For this portion of the week, this event focused on solving problems and issues in postsecondary. The summit is now in its second year; last year, this event was held at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The summit hosted a pre-conference workshop on developing engaging instruction and a site visit to the culinary program at the Emily Griffith Technical College. These pre-conference workshops are a handy way to learn from other experts in the post-secondary field and indulge your sweet tooth at the three-course meal that was provided. This year’s themes for the remainder of the conference included short-term credentials and special populations, effective data collection processes, recruitment and retention of diverse faculty and staff, and the future of post-secondary CTE. The conference was unique in structure because it had the four main panel themes which then led to smaller sessions, round table discussions, and deeper dive discussions. It also focused on inclusion and diversity in the postsecondary CTE areas and how to continue to help all our students reach a viable career no matter what obstacles they are facing. Next year's event has been set for Sept. 18–20. Attendance at this year’s event drastically grew, and we look forward to seeing more attendees at next year’s event. Lastly, throughout this week, we continued to discuss how we can support our division going forward. Primarily, the demand for the PACE organization is very large and includes members involved in postsecondary CTE leadership, Perkins administrators, CTE instructors and faculty members, and adult and career education staff. To continue to provide relevant content to you, we need your help and input. You can continue to help this field evolve in the postsecondary sector by joining the national PACE division. If your state does not have a PACE division yet, we would love for you to consider stepping up and starting one.
At the postsecondary event, we sponsored a social to discuss how interested parties can help get PACE started in your state. We know you are all champions of CTE, but we are seeking individuals or groups to lead these efforts. A few of us have stepped up and started chapters in our states. A few others are now in the process. We have a lot of states who need representation and a voice at the table. The process is not as hard as you think. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to reach out to current PACE or ACTE leadership, and we will help you through the process.

Reviewing of the ACTE 2024 National Leadership Fellowship Applications Begin
A select committee from the PACE Division will begin its review process this week. This year the division will be selecting one applicant to represent the PACE Division for the National Leadership Fellowship Program.
ACTE plans to notify all applicants of their acceptance status by Nov. 1. This will also be announced in the winter PACE newsletter.

John Noel Named Pace New Awards Chairperson at 2024 VISION Conference
The annual Awards presentation that takes place during the PACE Opening Session at the Vision Conference takes quite an immense amount of work and preparation.

John Noel, has unselfishly spent many hours during the past decade creating the PACE Vision Blue Books. John spends many hours pouring over session details and assembling all of this information into this valuable booklet for all of our members who attend the annual Vision Conference. He hand delivers and sometimes mails these booklets to the conference location prior to the event. Needless to say, John goes above and beyond to provide this extra touch to our members, and we appreciate him immensely for doing this. |

C.J. Wurster will be our opening session guest presenter. He is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Phoenix College his topic will be rolling out 4 year degree programs at community colleges and addressing the local economic and industry drivers.
We look forward to his presentation and our committee strongly believes it will hold high interest with our attending members.

PACE New Icon Debuts on ACTE Website
During the spring of 2022, an ad hoc committee for the PACE Division was formed to discuss and provide ideas for a new PACE icon. Committee members dedicated time and thought leadership in order to bring all of their thoughts and the ideas from our division together in a unified representation of what it means to be a postsecondary sector within a national association.
This new image has been released to our membership on the ACTE website.
I would personally like to thank the committee members who worked on this effort to bring everyone's ideas together.

Share Your Expertise!
Mark your calendars for the 2024 ACTE Work-based Learning (WBL) Conference, happening May 1–3 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You could share your WBL programs, models and expertise; consider submitting a presentation proposal. This annual event, which sold out last year, specifically focuses on professional development for WBL professionals in secondary and postsecondary CTE programs and institutions. The deadline to submit presentation proposals is Oct. 16.

With a featured event from the CTE Research Network
Join CTE professionals from across the nation to voice your vision on CTE policy and programming relevant to your school’s needs at ACTE’s National Policy Seminar, happening March 17–20 in Arlington, Virginia. Featured sessions will cover best practices for influencing federal policy and CTE advocacy and messaging. And on the last day of the event, March 20, the CTE Research Network will address topics that will help expand the evidence base for CTE.

New Student Video Contest
ACTE — the host of CTE Month® — and NASA HUNCH are excited to announce the 2023–24 student video challenge, which offers students the opportunity to showcase the application of CTE and project-based learning programs in high-demand career fields on Earth as well as in space. This year’s theme: “Why Go to the Moon?” The contest is open to students of all ages, including elementary, middle school, high school and postsecondary students in any school or who is homeschooled. Submit a two-minute video by April 1.
