Fall Bounty
Why is now the best time to shop at the Easton Farmers' Market?

Because more fresh locally grown produce is available in the fall than at any other time of the year. You'll find field-grown tomatoes, peppers; fall lettuces, salad greens and herbs; spinach, swiss chard and kale, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, turnips, eggplants, mushrooms, peppers, potatoes, cabbage and cucumbers; dozens of varieties of apples, pears, raspberries, and so much more!! Check out BuyFresh Buy Local's Harvest Calendar to learn what's in season.

In this difficult time of Covid-19 we all want to feel as safe as possible. Shopping at an outdoor market where safety protocols are in effect (contact-free shopping where only vendors are allowed to touch products, masks are required, and 6' social distancing is marked throughout the market), is a great place to find fresh, local food in a safe environment.

Make your own Kraut!
Cabbages are beautiful right now and making fermented sauerkraut is a fun activity (any other parents teaching science at home right now?!). The natural probiotics are a great immune booster and the flavor is customizable! Our favorite varieties are a spicy Mexican kraut with chili powder and cumin, an asian inspired variety that includes shredded carrots, scallions and red chili paste, and a garlicky kraut with lots of fresh chopped garlic. Raw sauerkraut can be added to salads, sandwiches and more! - Jess

This week's offerings include: lettuce mix arugula, red, green and tuscan kale, collards, red and green head lettuce, pak choy, red, green and nappa cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, parsley, dill, cilantro, peppers, eggplant, hakurei turnips, radishes, carrots, beets, scallions and spaghetti squash.
Phillips Farm
Get a Beta-Carotene Blast
Phillips Farms has plenty of Orange Cauliflower this week. The orange color occurs naturally from the extra beta-carotene stored in its florets… which also means that this cauliflower has about 25% more Vitamin A than regular white cauliflower.

The Fall Harvest means plenty of amazing fruits and vegetables at Phillips Farms. Available this week: Apple Cider, Raspberries (nearing the end of season), Honeycrisp Apples and more than a DOZEN other apple varieties! Vegetables this week: Pumpkins, spaghetti squash, honeynut squash (SO GOOD), butternut squash, acorn squash, fennel, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, arugula, lettuce, radishes, Jersey tomatoes, green beans, carrots, kale, Swiss chard, beets, onions, garlic and more.

Credit cards accepted. Online ordering available at Choose Easton Farmers Market as your pickup location. $20 minimum order requested.
Scholl Orchards
Brussels Sprouts are Back

And autumn fruit is in high gear with nine varieties of apples (the NEW Rosalee, Honeycrisp, Gala, Macs, Crimson Crisp, Sun Crisp, Stayman, Empire, and Macoun); Bartlett, Bosc, Asian, and Seckel pears.

And of course you'll find lots of fresh pressed cider, and apple cider donuts too.

Is your porch ready for autumn and Halloween? Scholl's has some gorgeous decorative gourds and pumpkins!

Mushroom Musings with Primordia Farm
Hope you all had a great week. We are getting ready to set the corner post on our new porch. This post is a sculpture that Matthew’s grandfather carved in his 20s! It’s been kept in dry storage since the 60s and is finally finding a worthy home - we are excited to have such a guardian at the entrance of our space :)

Well, the mushrooms know it's fall even though their environment hasn’t changed- which always amazes me! As soon as fall hits, they are instantly more prolific. This is their time! I don’t expect to be short on any varieties this week, we have plenty coming down the line.

Warming Patchouli
As the weather gets cooler I have noticed that some shoppers start looking for warmer scents. My Patchouli is one of the scents they seek out. Patchouli essential oil is believed to soothe and uplift the spirit. A grounding aroma, earthy and sensuous. (Of course it is also a scent you will either love or hate.) This essence line comes features soap, body spray, massage body oil, and a body powder. Other soaps that have patchouli essential oil in them are my Honey Rosemilk and Desert Night. - Susan
