PBIT is preparing for potential impacts from Hurricane Lee. We will continue to provide updates as the forecast becomes more clear.

In the event of hurricane or tropical storm conditions, including high winds or storm surge, there will be ferry cancellations.

Cancellations should be expected in at least the day prior to the storms arrival, the day of the storm and the day following the storm.

Following the storm, while the weather may seem clear, ferry runs may remain cancelled while we assess for damage and prepare vessels to enter back into service. In the past, with hurricane/tropical storm landfall in our area, the Coast Guard has closed Narragansett Bay to marine traffic. Should this be the case with this storm, we will be unable to run until the Coast Guard re-opens the bay.

Should the storm make landfall in our area, island residents and visitors should be prepared to be on island for multiple days.

Anyone who is not equipped to remain on island for multiple days should leave prior to the storms arrival.

Extra runs may be added to assist in evacuating the island. These runs will be open only to those departing the island, with the exception of emergency personnel.

Updates will be provided by email, on the website and via text alert.

If you have a ferry reservation for this weekend and would like to change or cancel your reservation, please call our PI office at 401-683-0430. We will be waiving all processing fees for reservation changes for this weekend, but it must be done over the phone. The online system will continue to charge the processing fee, so please call to make your changes.

If you have a vehicle located in the Prudence Island ferry parking lot we highly recommend moving your vehicle. Particularly, vehicles located on the Eastern side of the lot should be moved to higher ground. The lot is prone to flooding with the storm surge.
