The Potomac Conference is pleased to announce that Becky Patrick has been voted to serve as interim principal of the Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market. Her selection makes her the first female principal in the school's history. Watch the video announcement.
Becky steps into this role following the faithful leadership of Don Short, who has served the academy with dedication for the past ten years.
Becky’s connection to Seventh-day Adventist education runs deep. As a former boarding academy student, she experienced firsthand the kind of meaningful relationships that shape not just learning, but lives. Those early experiences helped guide her calling to education and continue to influence the way she shows up for her students today.
Over the past 29 years, Becky has served in a variety of roles: as a teacher, instructional leader, and principal. For the last 14 years, Shenandoah Valley Academy has been home, where she has served as a math teacher and teacher leader. She cares deeply about supporting teachers, mentoring staff, and helping create an environment where students can grow both spiritually and academically.
She holds a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Instructional Leadership from Southern Adventist University and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, with a minor in Biology, from the University of Louisville.
Gabriel Madrid, Vice President for Education, Potomac Conference, said, “The Lord continues to bless SVA with spiritual, mission-focused leadership. Principal Patrick brings not only a wealth of experience but has already demonstrated her dedication to furthering the spiritual life, academic success, and social development of our young people at SVA.”
As Becky steps into this interim role, we are confident she will lead with care, clarity, and a deep commitment to Shenandoah Valley Academy's mission.
