The office will be open only 8:30 - 10:30 AM on Friday, September 21. We'll resume our regular hours (9 AM - 12 PM) on Monday. Sorry for the inconvenience.
We're working on options to keep the office open longer hours - stay tuned!
Hi Everyone!

This week has been filled with meetings and events, including our monthly board of directors meeting. It is amazing to see the energy in the room, and with a new director at the helm (that's me, of course), there's a lot of learning and growing to do. I'm so proud to be a part of such a wonderfully passionate team. We're talking about internal office updates, new members, new board members, and ways to work together to grow our organization.

With that in mind, mark your calendars for our Annual Dinner on November 14 - this is our most important meeting of the year where we vote on board members and also present the Pride in Potsdam and Commitment to the Community awards. Start thinking about who you're going to nominate!

I took a few minutes to reinstall these beautiful historic photographs of Potsdam donated by James and Abbe Theodore in a new spot in the office. While the new ideas and energy coming through these doors are exciting, it's important to reflect on the past and consider how we can learn and grow while staying true to the roots of our wonderful community - these images will be a great reminder of that. Brittany and I do want to continue to liven up the space here while celebrating our place, so if you have any Potsdam-related prints or photos you'd like us to display in the office, let me know and we'll see what we can do.

As I mentioned last time, I started collecting student email addresses, and I plan to start a regular student-specific email in the very near future. If you know any students who might be interested in this, please have them sign up for the newsletter using this form! And if you're a business looking to offer a special deal to students, let me know and I can include that in the email!

Again, I'd love to speak with you about what I can do to help you and your business, so please stop in to the office Monday - Friday 9am - noon, or email me at to set up a time to meet. And make sure you like our page on Facebook, join our new Members Only Facebook group!

All the best,

Maggie McKenna

This week, I had the chance to meet Ellen MacMaster from ' EmBears. She handmakes the most adorable stuffed animals, memory bears with your loved ones' clothing, and she even holds workshops and hosts birthday part ies. I have to wait 'til the Spring for my birthday, but she may be joining us for Fright Fest!

Ellen would like to sell more of these adorable creations in stores around the area, so if you're interested in carrying her well-priced, well-made products, check out her website and get in contact.
Friday October 26 and Saturday, October 27, 2018
Some of you have already reached out to let me know you'll be involved. We don't have all that much time to put this whole thing together, so we will be charging a small involvement fee for participating businesses and street vendors - $20 for chamber members and $30 for non-members. Please fill out this form no later than October 1 to let us know what you're going to be doing, and so your information is included in our advertising! It's important to know which businesses will be staying open late and if you'll be offering any special deals, discounts or holding an event.

Here's the plan so far:
5 - 8 PM: Late night shopping ( please fill out the form to let us know you'll be involved ), haunted walking tours, and advertising haunted house events around town
8 PM: Bonfire at Garner Park (with Fire Dept and Village DPW)

8 - 10 AM: Costume Run/Walk with kids race (fundraiser for SLCCDP)
10 AM - 4 PM: Market St closed off with vendors and activities ( please fill out the form ) If we have enough vendors, we will also have vendors in Ives Park

10:30 AM: Story Time with Potsdam Childrens' Librarian Rebecca Donnelly
11 AM: Ragamuffin Parade and fire truck runs (with Kiwanis and Fire Dept)

We are still missing information from a number of members, so if you haven't done so already, please fill out this form so we can update your directory listing. If your business is not on our website, please fill out this form and we'll be able to add all your information. The form may take a few minutes to fill out - we appreciate your participation.

4F Running Ribbon Cutting
75 Market St, Potsdam

We had a lovely time at the ribbon cutting for 4F Running on September 7! If you haven't already checked out their store, do head in there. They have a nice selection of running sneakers and accessories combined with excellent customer service. It's difficult to buy the right sneakers, and it's incredible to have a store to walk in to that will help you figure out what will work best for you - we're so lucky to have this in Potsdam!

They accept Potsdam Chamber gift certificates and also have their own gift cards now. Visit their website and their Facebook page.
