PCFO Proudly Supports a YES vote Issue 1 in Columbus
Power a Clean Future Ohio is announcing today the endorsement of Issue 1 on the ballot for Columbus residents in November. Voting yes on Issue 1 will provide residents access to clean, affordable renewable energy through a community choice aggregation program. This vote will allow the city to bundle residents together as a purchasing group and negotiate where Columbus gets its power and how much it will cost. PCFO’s Executive Director Joe Flarida released the following statement about the endorsement:
“Columbus residents have an opportunity in November to vote for clean air, a healthy environment, and for the jobs of tomorrow. Power a Clean Future Ohio strongly encourages a YES vote on Issue 1. If this ballot issue passes, Columbus residents will become the largest and most powerful set of renewable energy purchasers in the Midwest. This will make a real difference for our economy and our environment. Yes on Issue 1 means new local renewable energy jobs and a healthier environment for local residents, all without seeing an increase in electricity bills. Vote yes on Issue 1 in Columbus!”

PCFO Community Spotlight: Lorain
|
|
City: Lorain
Population: 64,028
Mayor: Jack Bradley
Thanks to the strong leadership of Councilmembers Pam Carter and Cory Shawver, as well as Major Jack Bradley, Lorain joined as the newest PCFO Community after passage of a resolution in city council last week.
The city of Lorain has taken many steps to become a more sustainable community. The Lorain Port Authority has partnered with NOPEC to provide a PACE loan program in order to help property owners finance energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements. Additionally, the Lorain Water Purification Plant participated in an energy audit and switched completely to LED products. Lorain has also taken measures to protect their natural resources, particularly Lake Erie and the Black River. Lorain has received grant funding to help restore wetlands, plant trees, and remove invasive species.
The entire PCFO coalition is looking forward to working with Lorain on local clean energy issues.
