The Rosary might be the best kept secret of our day! Pope Pius V began an October commemoration to honor Our Lady of Victory after a near hostile takeover in October 1571. The Muslim Turks had conquered the Middle East and held the islands of Crete and Cyprus intending to conquer the Christian kingdoms of Europe next. Pope Pius called all the faithful from princes to peasants to rally against Islam and to seek the intercession of the Blessed Mother. In the famous Battle of Lepanto, the far outnumbered Christian fleet surrounded by the Turkish fleet broke through and drove them to shore saving Europe. Later Pope Gregory XIII, established the first Sunday in October as the feast of the Holy Rosary, which is now celebrated on October 7th each year. Catholic Exchange (Why October)

October is also associated with devotion to Our Lady of Fátima. On October 13 th, 1917, the “the miracle of the sun,” prophesied by the three child visionaries, was witnessed in Cova de Iria outside of Fátima, Portugal. The crowd of pilgrims numbered around 70,000 strong! Imagine if we billions of Catholics joined together in prayer over ONE cause and sought, like Christians before us, the intercession of our Blessed Mother!
