"Treasure Hunt"

People have always loved a treasure hunt. In Jesus' day, the idea of finding treasure was just as alluring. In his parable about treasure hidden in a field, Jesus used the metaphor of treasure to describe the kingdom of heaven. Contrary to his listeners' expectations, he didn't say people had to work hard to gain such treasure. They only had to discover it, and claim it. God's grace--the ultimate treasure--is free and available to us all.

All of us have a sense that we have been 'touched by grace." Yet what is grace exactly? Rumi described it when he said, "Something opens our wings. Something makes boredom and hurt disappear. Someone fills the cup in front of us." Together we will explore this great mystery and learn how to invite its presence into our lives.
