MAINEBIZ | March 22, 2024 | Fresh after striking a concessions deal at Boston’s Fenway Park, Maine-based Luke's Lobster is heading to New York City’s iconic Rockefeller Plaza to launch the company's ninth location in the Big Apple.
Set to open in April, the eatery will be located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, near the ice rink and part of the "Under 30 Rock" collection of casual restaurants, bars, takeaway counters and shops. The building, known as 30 Rock, is the one where "Saturday Night Live" is broadcast each week.
“Though we’re based in Maine, New York City is where we got our start opening our first shack in 2009 and it will always be a special place for our company,” CEO Luke Holden said in a news release. He was honored on the Mainebiz Next list in 2021.

At corporate spelling bee, Maine execs spar over words like 'pilcrow' and 'wobbulator'
MAINEBIZ | March 28, 2024 | How do you spell pilcrow? That was the winning word in a corporate spelling bee held Wednesday in Portland. The competition ended in an upset.
The event, held by the Maine Trust for Local News at Oxbow Brewing, included 15 participants and raised money for the winner’s chosen charity. Each participant agreed to write a $150 check to the winning player’s charity, and there was also a donation jar at the door.
The final round came down to Jessica Estes, president of the Boulos Co., who was playing for LearningWorks, and Jacqueline Edmondson, president of the University of Southern Maine, who was playing for the University of Southern Maine Scholarship Fund.

Real-World Family Business Stories at Fambiz Now
Fambiz Now is not your typical news website. They bring a carefully edited selection of real-world family business stories mixed in with “crises and scandals” that have takeaways you can put to use right away. Sometimes edgy, sometimes funny, but always relatable. They like to think of it as The Harvard Business Review meets The National Enquirer. We often learn more from the mistakes than just the successes. Enjoy the read!
