Powering a Safer Outdoors with Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas

We are thrilled to announce a major new milestone for conservation and safety in the Natural State! The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) and the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas have entered into a three-year partnership dedicated to ensuring every Arkansan enjoys our woods and waters responsibly.

As our new "Official Outdoor Safety Education Partner," the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas will play a vital role in supporting the next generation of outdoorsmen and women.

🛶 Safety Education at the Forefront

Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, this collaboration will bolster several key AGFC initiatives:

  • Hunter Education: Critical training for safe and ethical hunting.
  • Boater Education: Ensuring our waterways remain safe for everyone.
  • ATV Safety Education: A brand-new program launching later this year to address off-road safety.

🎓 New Honors for High School Seniors

One of the most exciting additions to this partnership is the Arkansas Outdoor Safety Graduation Cord.

To earn this distinction, high school seniors must demonstrate a high level of commitment to responsible recreation by completing certifications in all three core areas:

  1. Hunter Education
  2. Boater Education
  3. ATV Safety Education

Eligible students will receive a special cord to wear during their graduation ceremony, symbolizing their dedication to safety and conservation.

🌟 Community & Events

The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas will also take a leading role in our major annual events:

  • The Safety Zone: A hands-on, interactive area at events focusing on real-world boating and hunting safety scenarios.
  • Generation Conservation Summit: Serving as a Founding Partner for this annual gathering of conservation leaders and enthusiasts.
