Welcome to Powerlifting America

President's Message

DSC_6810 _1_.jpg

Hello National,

I trust this message finds you well and in good health!

I want to welcome you to Powerlifting America. Powerlifting America is the new affiliate member federation of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF).

As you know, the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) is the official governing body for the sport of powerlifting internationally. The IPF is comprised of member federations from over 136 countries (soon to be 140) on six [6] continents. The IPF is a founding member of the World Games. The World Games is an international multi-sports event hosted by the International World Games Association (IWGA), falling under the patronage and recognition of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Most important, Powerlifting America is compliant with the current WADA / IOC guidelines for the testing of our athletes. All testing will be performed through the Canadian Center for Ethics and Sport (CCES), and the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). USADA is the national anti-doping organization (NADO) for the United States and performs all anti-doping tests for all Olympic, Paralympic, Pan American, and Para Pan American sports. Both organizations are charged with managing our anti-doping program, including in-competition and out-of-competition testing, results management processes, drug reference resources, and athlete education.

Key and important, athletes will NOT be testing other athletes. Coaches will not be testing the athletes. Officials will not be testing athletes, and finally, referees will not be testing any of our athletes.

Powerlifting America was created to ensure athletes, coaches, and referees continue to have a pathway to the most prominent international powerlifting federation globally, the IPF. We choose to remain part of the IPF due to its commitment to maintaining fair competition for ALL the athletes. Most important, the IPF’s pursuit for the International Olympic Committee’s recognition has created many exciting changes in the sport over the past decade, leading to more significant opportunities and exposure for every athlete.

Those opportunities now include competing at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Championships, and the International Master Games Association (IMGA) as well as the following IPF / NAPF World Championships as follows:

IPF

  • 2022 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championship – Sun City, South Africa
  • 2022 IPF World Equipped Powerlifting Championship – Viborg, Denmark
  • 2022 World Classic & Equipped Sub-Junior & Junior Powerlifting Championship – Guayaquil, Ecuador
  • 2022 World Classic & Equipped Masters Powerlifting Championship – St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada
  • 2022 IPF World Classic & Equipped Bench Press Championship – Almaty, Kazakhstan
  • FISU Powerlifting World Cup – Moscow, Russia

  • 9th NAPF/FESUPO Pan-American Regional Bench Press Championships – Aguadilla, Puerto Rico

The full IPF and NAPF Schedule can be found here: https://www.powerlifting.sport/championships/calendar
