Poydras Home Receives Innovative Grant Award

Poydras Home's “Intergenerational Therapeutic Music Healing Collaboration” program is being supported by an Innovative Grant Award through the "I'm Still Here" Foundation.

Music Through the Ages will begin in September, meeting weekly throughout the Fall of 2024 and the Spring of 2025, led by a certified music therapist. The music therapy sessions will utilize music, lyrics analysis, discussion, song writing, drum circles, musical play, relaxation, lyrics substitution, and movement.

This new programming will provide an opportunity for our Assisted Living Memory Care elders to collaborate with youth from our community. The children will be able to connect with persons living with dementia and interact together in a vibrant way. Music will be the conduit of connection, meeting the social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs of both generations.
