Equipping farmers to build resilient farms and communities.
For our 2021 virtual annual conference, "Coming Home," we have created a beautiful custom T-shirt that captures the theme of the event.
Those who register for the conference by Sunday, Dec. 20 – and also either join PFI or renew their membership, or include a donation of $50 or more – will receive a special conference package in the mail that includes this T-shirt and a custom notebook, along with other gifts.
We recorded the entirety of the 2020 virtual cover crop boot camp. If you weren’t able to make the live event or want to revisit a few of the sessions, check them out on this new page.
The two-day workshop explored how cover crops boost soil health, improve weed control and provide grazing opportunities.
We strive to foster strong communities based on diverse ties between farmers and non-farmers.
One of the strongest ties is purchasing food and farm products from local farms. Buying from local farms keeps money circulating in your community, and builds a more resilient food system.
Home is different for each of us. Over the past two centuries as our economy has become more industrial, people have increasingly called urban and suburban areas home. Yet while rural areas are often portrayed as dying, there are glimmers of hope and a shifting tide for the rural U.S.
Bestselling author and journalist Sarah Smarsh, who grew up on a rural Kansas farm, will share stories of people who are coming – or choosing to stay – home in rural places and small towns. She will reflect on ingenuities and the struggles people face in their commitment to making a good life for themselves and their communities.
Your donations will fund our farmer-led events, research and outreach; support the next generation of farmers; and help us continue to grow our impact. Please, if you are able, donate today!
Thank you for being part of our generous community, and for your financial support. As 2020 comes to a close, we hope PFI serves as a beacon of hope for you.
