A workshop about lessons learned during the pandemic to support group facilitators when moving group sessions to an online platform. 
 
Learning Objectives
1)     Participants will learn strategies for safely and effectively running online support groups.
2)     Participants will learn about considerations for privacy compliance when providing online services.
3)     Participants will collectively work through scenarios based on real-life group support challenges.
4)     Participants will receive resources, developed by presenters, about online group co-facilitation, including safety planning and emergency response protocols.
Group Leaders:
Kelsey Johnson (she/her), MSW, RSW, Program Manager, Sheena’s Place
Kelsey received her MSW at the University of Toronto in 2017, where she specialized in social justice and diversity. In 2016 Kelsey joined Sheena’s Place as a placement student, and became a group facilitator following the completion of her degree. Prior to joining the Sheena’s Place team as program manager, Kelsey worked as the Outreach and Education Coordinator at the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC). Kelsey is passionate about providing low-barrier access to mental health care through community-based work.
Kaitlyn Axelrod (she/her), MSW, RSW, Program & Outreach Coordinator, Sheena’s Place
Kaitlyn has worked and volunteered for a variety of Toronto-based mental health organizations supporting youth and adults with eating disorders and other mental health challenges. Kaitlyn received her MSW at the University of Toronto in 2018, where she specialized in mental health and health. Through her work at Sheena’s Place, Kaitlyn aims to destigmatize eating disorders and increase the accessibility of support. Kaitlyn believes that group-based mental health support is critical in reducing suffering and improving individual and community well-being.
