Trailseeker Car of the Year

Subaru Trailseeker was named Car of the Year in the 2027 TopGear.com U.S. Car Awards. Editors at TopGear.com selected the all-electric Subaru Trailseeker SUV from among new or significantly updated contenders from multiple automakers.

Editors at Top Gear praised the Subaru Trailseeker’s on- and off-road drivability. With a best-in-class 8.5 inches of ground clearance, standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, and X-MODE®, the Trailseeker is impressively equipped for off-road adventures. On pavement, with 375 combined horsepower from dual electric motors, a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.4 seconds, and configurable drive modes, the Subaru Trailseeker is equally at ease.

LOCAL TOURIST

Boston Duck Tour

Being local doesn't mean you can't take time to enjoy the same views as an out-of-towner. We took a day this autumn to board the local Boston Duck Tour at the Prudential Center.

Legendary ConDUCKtors put their unique spin on each tour as you cruise by historic neighborhoods and the notable landmarks that make Boston home.

And when all that fresh air has you craving something to eat, you are spoiled for choice all within a short walk. We opted for Earls and sat in the rooftop bar enjoying sunshine, Yuzu Calamari and cocktails while our main dishes were prepared.

Shopping naturally came next and who can skip Eataly for all your authentic Italian treats. If you plan a long day into evening excursion, check out their list of classes and events and take home an additional skill along with your memories.

Bonus History: Duck boats get their name from a military acronym. DUKW is a General Motors manufacturing code where D stands for 1942 (model year), U means utility (amphibious), K indicates all-wheel drive, and W stands for dual rear axles. Troops quickly shortened this acronym to "Duck".

Cider Roasted Carrots

These sweet and tangy cider roasted carrots with walnuts and sage are the perfect rustic side dish.

Ingredients:

2 lb carrots preferably with tops

¾ cup apple cider or juice

3 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon olive oil

½ teaspoon kosher salt plus extra

¼ teaspoon pepper

½ cup walnuts finely chopped

1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil so that the foil comes up the side of the baking sheet. Spray the foil with non-stick spray. Peel the carrots and trim the green tops, cutting any large ones in half lengthwise so they are all uniform in shape. Arrange the carrots on the baking sheet. In a small bowl combine the apple cider, apple cider vinegar, honey, olive oil, Dijon mustard, kosher salt, and pepper. Pour the cider mixture of the carrots, tossing them lightly so they are evenly coated. Begin roasting the carrots uncovered. Roast for 10 minutes then remove the baking sheet and roll the carrots in the cider mixture. Roast for another 10 minutes then toss the carrots again. Continue roasting for another 10 to 15 minutes until the carrots are crisp tender and the cider mixture has reduced to a syrupy glaze. Toss the carrots so they are evenly coated in the glaze. Place a wide skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and walnuts and cook, stirring constantly until the walnuts begin to toast and turn brown. Add the chopped sage and a pinch of kosher salt and cook for another minute until fragrant. Remove from the heat. If the skillet is very hot, transfer the nuts to a separate bowl to prevent them from burning. Transfer the carrots to a serving dish. Spoon the butter toasted walnuts and sage over the carrots and enjoy!
