Practice ACT Exam for Sophomores

Wednesday, March 11, 2026

Greetings Class of 2028 Parent/Guardian,

This email is to advise that all Sophomores will be taking the Practice ACT Exam at Mercy High School on Wednesday, March 11th. Students should plan for the test to last from 1st-4th Hours, including Adviser, with any students testing with extended time possibly going a little longer; however, the test is digital and typically does not take as long as the pencil and paper tests.

We are partnering with Compass Test Prep, who will be administering the exam. Please be sure to check your email for communications that will come directly from Compass (tests@compassprep.com). All Sophomores have been sent this testing information.

A few important notes for test day:

  • This is a Digital Test. Students will need to have their iPad for the exam. Please make sure it is fully charged the night before the exam and bring a charger, just in case.
  • It is critical that students who are testing be on time. Students will report directly to their testing room, as testing will start promptly at 8:00 AM. Attendance will take place in your testing room. Testing location confirmations will be sent closer to testing day.
  • Students may also bring a pen or pencil and scratch paper.
  • Students must bring their own calculator. Details regarding what calculators are acceptable are outlined below:
  • It's recommended that all test takers get a good night's rest the night before the test and eat a nice breakfast the morning of, to better prepare for the test.
  • Sophomores may dress comfortably for test day; this includes jeans, sweats, pajama bottoms, and even leggings/yoga pants (with a long top). *Please note: if you wear a hooded sweatshirt or a hat, the hood must be off and the hat must be off and away, while testing.
  • Students may quickly and quietly grab lunch once the exam is over, then should join the class in session and complete the remainder of the school day as scheduled, including those with extended time testing accommodations.
