Dear Friends,
Throughout this pandemic, which has upended absolutely everything, we've heard time and again how important it is to practice gratitude. Whether you write about what you are grateful for in a journal, catalog it mentally while meditating, or share it with others at the dinner table, it's scientifically proven to improve your mental and physical health, help you sleep better, and strengthen your relationships.
With that in mind, the CATCH Board, along with some of our friends in the mental health community, are sharing gratitude with you in personal messages below.
Best wishes to you and your loved ones for a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
With gratitude,
The CATCH Team

What does gratitude mean to you?

Amy Oberholtzer
"Gratitude is letting go of all that "should" or "could" be and being deeply thankful for what I have, what I am able to do, and for those whom I love."
Rachel Tzinberg
"For me, gratitude is about appreciating the small things and the big things, feeling grateful for things from the past, present, and the future. I practice gratitude everyday so that it’s easier to find when life is harder."
Anne Neumann
"Gratitude is finding the ‘grace in between.’ Trying to be present and seeing the good in this moment AND to be careful not to wish away the moment with ‘I should’ or ‘if I could or would’ thoughts."
Lisa Novak
"Gratitude means taking a pause - a pause from the uncertainty, from the noise, from the what-ifs and the why nots - to appreciate what IS. A pause to take in and let out, to smile, to dream, to remember (or to forget), to permit, to forgive, to love, and to just... be."
Julie Weinberg
"Gratitude is taking time to notice, experience, and remember the positive. It's changed my outlook since the start of the pandemic. Although the world is in crisis, practicing gratitude makes me feel happier, more relaxed, and more confident than I have in a long time."
Pam Streeter
"Gratitude is celebrating the small things that we so often take for granted. As a school nurse, this year I am
particularly grateful that I am able to help guide and support our community through these frightening and uncertain times."
Christina Seaborg
Social Worker
Glenbrook North H.S.
"Gratitude to me is a feeling of deep appreciation and thankfulness for the special people in my life and the opportunity to serve my community."
Dr. Rachel Riley Fancher

"To me, Gratitude means being consciously and actively aware of the things that bring me joy and comfort."

"Gratitude means appreciating all things, big and small, that make life meaningful.
Gratitude means living life aware of all the blessings and looking at life with abundance instead of scarcity. Gratitude strengthens relationships by helping you notice and appreciate the other person."
