"In loving ourselves, we love the world. For just as fire, rock, and water are all made up of molecules, everything, including you and me, is connected by a small piece of the beginning."
- Mark Nepo
All this month, we're focusing on practices that evoke love. I've been sharing this quote in the beginning of my classes because, for me, yoga is a practice of self-love. It's an opportunity to step aside and set aside all that we've carried throughout the day or week. It's an opportunity to practice mindful movement, intentional breathing, and self-affirmation. It's a friendly reminder to do only what we can with what we have.

Nepo says "In loving ourselves, we love the world." In loving ourselves, that love, not wanting to be contained, radiates outward. When I get to my mat, I'm lighter, I'm happier, and I'm more inclined to share that lightness and happiness with others. Just ask my friends and family!

Take a moment to reflect on practices or routines that allow you to love more deeply, and do more of that.

With love,
Alicia

Cabin fever got you down? Time to hit the yoga playground! Yoga asana can sometimes get quite serious, but the act of play can certainly enrich our knowledge of self (svadhyaya), so it seems imperative to add a healthy dose of play to our work on the mat. This workshop will involve creative individual, partner, and group work, so come ready to learn, discover, and play well with others in this non-competitive and fun practice!
