Italian Luxury War: Prada Acquires Versace

There is a lot of movement in the luxury brand world. Prada has officially completed its acquisition of Versace for about €1.3 billion - a deal years in the making after a previous intended sale to another party was blocked on antitrust grounds. Lorenzo Bertelli, heir to Prada’s founding family, will become executive chairman of Versace once the integration is complete. The acquisition brings Versace under the same umbrella as Prada and Miu Miu, marking a major expansion of Prada’s luxury-fashion portfolio. Click here for details.

What’s the Future for China’s Real Estate Market?

Despite some government moves and occasional glimmers of hope, Mainland China’s housing market remains stuck in limbo. According to recent data from China Real Estate Information Corp., sales among the top 100 developers plunged 36% year-on-year in November — a sharp sign that buyer confidence is still missing. Analysts warn that until demand picks up — and until unsold inventory is absorbed or cleared — the market will continue “searching for a bottom.”

What to expect at the STEM Racing Competition

The upcoming STEM Racing Competition is an exciting chance for Regent students to step into the fast-paced world of motorsport — not just as racers, but as full-fledged team owners. Each team will research, design, and build a model race car to compete on a 20-meter track against schools from across the UAE. Just like real racing teams, students must develop a unique brand identity and they will be judged on their innovation, creativity, and commitment to sustainability throughout the process. They will also learn real-world skills by marketing their brand and reaching out to companies for sponsorships.  The experience will culminate at Yas Marina Circuit, where students will spend the day racing their creations, showcasing their team identity, and presenting their engineering and design ideas. How exciting!

Industry watchers are starting to ask: is AI’s GPU-era finally wobbling?
