To be learning, loving, and serving disciples of Christ from the depths of our being to the ends of the earth.

Celebrating 100 years...

1924 - 2024

Notes from R.H. Heicke, Illinois State Evangelist, October 27, 1924

The Bible school is being organized upon the graded basis and has already reached an attendance of 185. A Women's Missionary Society has been organized with fourteen charter members which has also a home department functioning as the Ladies' Aid Society of the church. On a recent day during the meeting some twenty men assembled to complete the work of construction and the ladies of the church served noon luncheon.

The young people have conducted two Sunday evening services but no definite organization has yet been effected. The meetings will continue for two more weeks at least when it is hoped the church may be permanently organized, a pastor called and the work continue to ever increasing proportions.

Graded Sunday School participants gather in front of entrance of Seventh Street Christian Church in August 1925. Glenn Jacobs, longtime member, is among the children.

We omitted to say that we secured fourteen new subscriptions for Mission Leaves at Flanagan and are securing subscriptions to the same paper at Seventh Street.

Walking the Narrow Path:

Our Decisions

As Jesus nears the end of the Sermon on the Mount, he reiterates something he's emphasized throughout: The depths of our hearts are seen by God. This all-seeing God calls us to a life of interior examination. A life that recognizes the possibility--or, rather, the inevitability--of self-deception. Jesus knows that our deeds can seem righteous, with rotten motives underneath.

Jesus invites us into a life of knowing God, not just knowing about God. A life of presence, not posturing. A life of being with God, not simply doing things for him. Jesus is not interested in a spirituality that separates motive from mission.

The problem is, it's easy to do religious things for the wrong reasons. Ask this fundamental question: Am I on a journey to really know Jesus, or have I been using him for my own benefit?

Giving regularly not only supports the work of the church,

What we love is where we will spend first.
When we are able to give, it always deepens our faith
in loving and serving God.

Thank You for your generosity!

Kroger Community Rewards Program News

$19.84 was raised by 12 households who have linked their Kroger customer reward cards to support Prairie Avenue Christian Church. The quarterly contribution is for shopping at Kroger from April 1 - June 30, 2024

Because our total quarterly contribution is less than $25, which is the minimum check amount, we will not be receiving a check at this time. This amount will be held and combined with your next quarter's contribution total until your contribution amount exceeds $25. At the time your total contribution reaches $25, or the end of the program term, whichever comes first, your organization will then receive a check.

Share Your Faith by inviting 5 people to church this year

The God you worship is always revealed through your words and actions. Awkward conversations (i.e. "Are you saved?") are not necessary when your words and actions reveal the God you seek to learn, love, and serve.
