Prairie Ridge Intramurals

Offered to all 4th and 5th Grade Prairie Ridge students. The next activity is Co-Ed Scooter Activity which will begin January 31 for 4th Grade and February 1 for 5th Grade. Participation forms are available through the Phy. Ed. Department. Forms must be returned before participating.
Open Enrollment

What is Open Enrollment?
The inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside.

Who can apply?
Any Wisconsin resident in 4K to grade 12 may apply to attend a nonresident school district under the open enrollment program. However, a child may transfer to a nonresident school district for early childhood education or 4K only if the child’s resident school district offers the same type of program and only if the child is eligible for that program in the resident school district.

Please note that at the January School Board meeting the following recommendation was made.

Recommended Special Education Open Enrollment Limits (2022-2023)
Each year in January the School Board is required to take action on any Open Enrollment limits they intend to implement for the following school year. Similar to this year the recommendation is to allow no Cross-Categorical Special Education students to open enroll into our District at Pineview and Westside in grades 1 & 2 and at Prairie Ridge in grades 3, 4 & 5.

We're Halfway There!

It's surprising to think that we're already over halfway through the 2021-2022 school year! February also brings an extremely rare event: 2/22/22. On a TUESday on the second month, the 22nd day, in the year '22 PRI will have a special school-wide surprise celebration at 2:22 PM. 

There's much to celebrate at this point in the year, and it's been great that we're able to get back to many normal activities. Field trips to the Hartje Center and Natural Bridge State Park are taking place. Students are eagerly anticipating their music concerts. We've completed our school-wide Spelling Bee in 4th and 5th grade. Our after-school intramurals have seen high participation. 

The spirit and camaraderie between our students and staff are evident inside and outside the classroom. "Praising the positive" not only helps affirm positive behaviors but also shows others how to receive the right kind of attention. Also, our halls and classrooms are full of creative student work. Our staff goes above and beyond to tap into each student's strengths to help empower and honor them. 

Next month will bring our spring conferences. Continue to encourage your child both socially and academically. Also, attendance at school is so vital. While we navigate this pandemic, please be in lockstep communication with your child's teacher if day(s) are missed, so there aren't significant lapses in learning.

4K Registration is Now Open!

If you have a child that will be four years old on or before September 1, 2022, he/she is eligible for enrollment in our district four-year-old kindergarten program. Register online anytime or in-person on Thursday, April 7th.

ONLINE 4K Registration: 
  • If you have a child/ren currently enrolled in the School District of Reedsburg, please log in to your Skyward Family Account, then go to the "New Student Online Enrollment" link in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. This will lead you through the online registration process for your child for the next school year. 
  • New families should visit the "New Student Enrollment" page and follow the steps to register your child online. 

IN-PERSON 4K Registration: 
  • Please join us Thursday, April 7th, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Reedsburg Area High School commons to register in person.  
Sauk County Public Health's Seal-A-Smile team will be at Prairie Ridge Intermediate School on various days beginning February 24-March 10.

All participating children have a completed consent form already on file. The program includes an assessment to determine if sealants can be done, sealants if appropriate, fluoride treatments, and tooth brushing instructions with a new toothbrush. A follow-up letter will be sent home to describe what was completed and what is recommended for future needs. All procedures will follow recommendations from the American Dental Association and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations for school-based dental sealant programs.
PRI Spelling Bee 2022
The Fourth and Fifth Grade students pictured below competed in a spell-off at Prairie Ridge Intermediate School on January 10 for the opportunity to participate in the CWTAG Spelling Bee on February 1 in Portage.

Competing on February 1 are Ames Moeller, Gunner Lutter, Gunner Fulk, Linnea Retzlaff, Layla Wakup, Jack Minor, Claire Siedschlag, and Roland Sigafus. Good Luck, PRI Spelling Bee Participants!

Breakfast and Lunch are FREE for all students this 2021-2022 school year. Additional breakfasts after the first one will be a $2.35 cost. Additional lunches will be a $4.00 cost. Ala Carte items are not free.

Milk Break: Milk for milk break is also FREE again this year. Milk needed for lunch brought from home will need to be purchased at the cost of 45 cents each.
