Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences at Prairie Ridge Intermediate School will be held the evening of Thursday, October 24 , and the morning of Friday, October 25. Please look for a letter to come home with your child to schedule a conference. Be sure to complete and return as soon as possible. There will be no school that Friday, October 25.
Prairie Ridge Intramurals
Fourth and Fifth Grade students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports-related intramural opportunities throughout the school year. Fourth Grade students participate on Mondays and Wednesdays; and Fifth Grade participate on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Below is the list of activities being offered. Participation forms are distributed from the physical education teachers and will also be available on our  website .

Girls Volleyball:
  • 4th Grade - starts Monday, October 7
  • 5th Grade - starts Tuesday, October 8

Boys Basketball:
  • November 26 - December 19

With a month of teaching and learning complete, Prairie Ridge has established a solid routine and culture for excellence. Our educational team understands how important it is to lay down a foundation to get students off to a strong start. From simple transitions to and from class to reinforcing behaviors via our Prairie Ridge Paws passport system, students are demonstrating success in many ways. On October 14th, we’ll celebrate these successes with our annual Bowling Passport Party. Here, students will get to bowl for just under an hour, and they’ll receive their free Prairie Ridge class t-shirt. 

We will continue to teach and build character in our students throughout the year. We will be hosting an assembly each month referencing one of our “3 R’s” - Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience. Additionally, we will notice and reinforce these R’s via our compliment cards. Staff write a blurb about how a student is meeting or exceeding expectations, and we publicly celebrate those accomplishments as a school. The kids love seeing their name on the wall or getting announced for a prize on Friday!

One theme that is evident in our first month is our staff’s “team” mentality. They prioritize building positive relationships. It’s common to find a group of teachers and paraprofessionals high-fiving, fist-bumping, or shaking hands with students when they come and go from our building each day. Also, our staff collaborates each Friday around how they’re approaching instruction, assessment, intervention, and enrichment for all our kids. These Friday collaboration sessions are held sacred to our staff. Gone are the days of teaching just “my kids”, but teachers truly work to grow all of “our kids” together. It’s amazing to witness the work they do. 

We’re excited to see all the growth your child is going to make this year.

Fall Scholastic Book Fair
We will be hosting our "Fall" Scholastic Book Fair starting Thursday, October 17. It will be open:
  • October 17-23 – 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
  • October 24 – 8:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
  • October 25 – 8:00 a.m-Noon


New this year, Wisconsin schools are required to charge sales tax.

  • Student Abscences, Tardies & Leaving Early: If you child is going to be absent, tardy, or leaving early please call the Prairie Ridge Office at (608) 768-8942, OR email both secretaries: plandon@rsd.k12.wi.us and shmiller@rsd.k12.wi.us with the information. If you send a note with your child, please have them bring it to the office.
  • Parent Drop-off & Pick-up Area: For everyone's safety, when using the Parent Drop-off/Pick-up lane, please park your car next to the curb and pull ahead as far as possible. Please have your child(ren) exit the vehicle on the passenger side. Please do not let them go around to the driver's side to exit or retrieve items.
  • Student Cell Phones: If you are having your child bring a cell phone to school, we highly recommend that they bring it to the office for safe keeping during the day. There is a basket on the secretaries' desk for them to put it in. They pick it up at the end of the day. Students should only use their cell phone – when on school grounds – before they enter and after they exit the building.
  • Lost & Found Items: If your child is missing an article of clothing, lunch box, etc., please have your child look for those in the Prairie Ridge Library. We have a table in there for those items. More expensive items are kept in the school office. Items not claimed by the end of each month will be donated.
Food Service
The month's breakfast and lunch menus may be accessed by clicking the button below.

Lunch - $2.80/day or $14.00/week - Please make sure you have enough money in your account for all your children. Payments may be made  online through Skyward  or dropped off in the office.

Universal Free Breakfast Program  is available to students in all of our schools K-12 every school day-excluding late start days. No advanced registration is necessary. These supervised meals are nutritionally balanced and vary daily. School Breakfast is an ideal solution for busy mornings when kids are running late or parents have early work schedules. Oftentimes, kids are not hungry when they first wake up but are ready to eat when school begins. Studies have shown that children who eat a nutritious breakfast have better behavior, better attendance, and improved test scores.
