The Division of Research & Innovation (R&I) at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) soared into 2022, fueled with the notification that the university had earned the Carnegie R2 research institution classification—a doctoral institution with high research activity. The honor is a significant milestone for PVAMU and our research and innovation enterprises, a goal I set and put into action upon my arrival at PVAMU in 2019.
Increasing PVAMU’s research and innovation partnerships with industries is another key factor in the strategic plan for elevating the university as an emerging research institution.
On January 18, 2022, the first day of classes for the spring semester, PVAMU and Shell Oil Company signed a $6 million research partnership agreement. It includes a five-year, $5 million nature-based solutions research program and an additional one-million-dollar investment for PVAMU’s infrastructure and creating student career opportunities.
This month’s newsletter brings you the latest on our Research & Innovation for Scholarly Excellence (RISE) impact of our dedicated researchers, faculty, and staff. There is research news from engineering and innovation, agriculture, and physics. Enjoy our student researchers' spotlight as we celebrated our first cording ceremony for them.
