Connecting hearts, minds, and hands to meet needs in our community
Big SHOUT OUT to Sales Force for partnering
with us by making ten subscriptions to their powerful Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) tool available to UNITE INDY to manage important components of our organization. These analytics will enable us to track our programmatic output on a real time basis. This is all made possible through Salesforce.org , a nonprofit social enterprise born out of Salesforce with a mission to empower social change makers and accelerate their impact. Thank You!
Outreach , UNITE INDY’s partner of the month began when Eric Howard read a report about
teen homelessness in Indianapolis. That was 23 years ago. He started by visiting homeless teens under overpasses and in vacant houses, bringing them food and water, which allowed him to minister to them in meaningful ways. Last year Outreach served 490 homeless young people and the ministry has moved to a new Program Center where it is able to serve more youth with food, clothing, spiritual guidance and love, as they shepherd many through high school and graduation. You can help Outreach serve homeless teens by donating some Items Needed through UNITE INDY'S web portal!
A 100-year-old building is full of surprises!
When we started tearing back layers of century-old plaster, we found all kinds of unexpected things...like the fact that our building almost burned down at one point, and past renovators cut some rather important joists. But the New Life Development Ministries contractors working on our office space at 241 W. 38th Street know how to roll with the punches and walls are going up! We are excited as we focus on all the people with whom we can meet in this place, working together to help those who live in hopeless situations. Statistically, 46208 may be among our poorest zip codes, but the people we have met here are rich in love and good wishes. What great neighbors! New Life Development Ministries!
One Rule..Sometimes one is
all we really need. At (the exclusively male) Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN., there is no handbook full of the college do's and don'ts for new students to memorize. No lengthy parade of edicts that must be maintained. Since 1832 they've used one rule, "The Gentleman's Rule" to cover every possible circumstance. Believers have one too. Read Nancy's latest blog post, "One Rule" here.
Don't be left out! So many partners
are standing with us! But we need YOU! Anyone can tell you: Not much gets done without money. For UNITE INDY to get a city-wide volunteer/need website going it takes great people with computer skills who work individually with churches, businesses, charities and others, so that each has its own portal to enter the world of need in our city.
We need a place to meet--working on that! We need to publish and insert the powerful testimonies and round table discussions that give suburban Indianapolis a much more personal understanding of the issues faced by our poor and hopeless. These are just a few of our needs, but any donation is so appreciated! And thanks to those who have helped so far! UNITE INDY is a 501(c)(3) public charity. So donations can be tax deductible.
