During the busy summer months so often filled with family beach trips, days at the pool, summer camps, and lake days, a group of students, parents, grandparents, and faculty/staff from Prince Avenue Christian School embarked on a completely unique journey.
The PACS group joined a ten-day mission trip with Prince Avenue Baptist Church to Pitumarca, Peru and its surrounding villages. The team held daily Bible schools for the local children, participated in door-to-door evangelism, and supported the pastor and staff of Monte Olivar Baptist Church.
The entire team included 38 people, ages 12 to 77. Fourteen of that team had close PACS affiliations including three generations of the Murray family – Caleb (9th) and Nate (7th), their parents Tommy and Cheryl, and their grandparents, Charlie and Wyllis Nell.

Student-Led Morning Announcements
Start the Day at Prince
|
|
Each morning at approximately 8:10 am, two Prince high school student voices are heard over intercoms throughout the Prince Avenue Christian School campus for morning announcements. These students make up the morning announcements team, which includes a total of twenty-eight high school students.
Two members of the team cheerfully share various announcements with the school to start a normal day at Prince of learning and discipleship. Certain announcements change by day, but the ones that remain consistent are the date, the scheduled day (A, B, C, or D), the lunch menu options, a Bible verse, and a student-led prayer.

Stamey Given Servant’s Heart Award
|
|
Prince Avenue Christian School recognizes the important role that our competent and qualified staff plays in our school community. Through the support of a generous donor, Prince recognizes one member of the staff each year with the Servant’s Heart Award.
Using an acronym for the word HEART, the recipient of this award is acknowledged for his or her humility, encouragement, authenticity, responsibility, and trustworthiness. This year’s Servant’s Heart Award was given to Kathy Stamey.
Mrs. Stamey began her career at PACS in 2009 as a substitute teacher. By the next school year, she had accepted her current role as Substitute Coordinator and Education Support Service Testing Coordinator. In these roles, Kathy is responsible for ensuring that each classroom or office that needs a substitute is covered with qualified personnel and lesson plans. In the Learning Center, she schedules and proctors tests for those students receiving testing services.
