Prince First-Graders Collect Books
for Schools in Indonesia
Prince Avenue Christian School first grade students recently had the opportunity to bless school children across the world in Indonesia. First-grade teacher Ginger Hayden had a planned visit to see her son and his wife that live and work in Indonesia. “I heard that the school children there could use picture books, so our first graders started an Indonesian Book Drive. By the time I left for my trip, our students had collected 45 pounds of books!” As she traveled abroad, Mrs. Hayden was not sure who would get the books or in what way, but she looked for opportunities to gift the books once she arrived.
Prince 5th-Graders Collect Supplies

Prince 5th-grade students sponsored an Easter week mission project to benefit Downtown Academy located in Athens. Students brought in school supplies such as copy paper, staplers, and tape to stock Downtown Academy's teacher supply closet. Prince Lower School Girls Participate
in Engineering Day Program
Prince 3rd – 5th-grade girls recently had the unique opportunity to participate in “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” (Girl Day). Girl Day was sponsored by volunteers with the University of Georgia Student Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) as part of the broader Engineers Week that promotes recognition among parents, teachers, and students of the importance of a technical education helping to motivate youth to pursue engineering careers. The program involved an introductory video, snacks, and three stations focusing on three different engineering disciplines.

Prince parent Hillary Tanner is a Lecturer with the UGA College of Engineering and the faculty advisor for the Student Chapter of the SWE. She helped to organize the event and said it was a great success. “We had a great turn-out with 25 girls participating. We sure had fun, and I think the girls did too!”

Mrs. Johnson has an extensive collection of Beatrix Potter books and collectibles. Students enjoyed Mrs. Johnson's beautiful English accent as she read Beatrix Potter stories to the class. She also shared pictures of England and of the home of Beatrix Potter called Hill Top.
