High School Students Enjoy Spiritual Retreats
In the month of September, Prince high school students enjoyed a time away from campus for a Spiritual Retreat. 9th and 10th graders went on a one night trip together, and 11th - 12th-graders went on a two night trip. The retreats allowed students time to relax, to build community, and to invest in their relationship with Christ.

The theme of the retreats was Hearing God's Voice. Students enjoyed games, recreation, small groups, and a time of worship with Prince Director of Spiritual Life Brandt Akin as the speaker. Mr. Akin explained the value of the retreats. "These trips have been great for students to open up about their struggles and doubts as well as grow in their faith and walk with Christ. We’ve also seen students make decisions to follow Jesus and choose to profess their faith through baptism.
Academics

Prince Avenue Christian School recently held its annual Honors Induction Ceremony in which students in middle and high school were inducted into the National Art Honor Society, International Thespian Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, National Beta Club, and National Honor Society. Students participated in the society pledges and received pins and certificates for their respective organizations. The evening concluded with special music by Tri-M Music Honor Society members.
Students Learn from Fire Safety House Visit
Mrs. Padgett's 2nd-Grade Class
The Oconee County Fire Department recently paid a visit to the Prince campus with the Georgia Fire Safety House, one of Oconee County's fire engines, and several firemen and rescue workers.

The purpose of the visit was to teach kindergarten through third grade students how to respond if they are ever caught in a burning building, especially their own houses. This informative lesson, complete with hands-on opportunities and plenty of question and answer time, was a big hit with students.

Many thanks to Fire Chief Bruce Thaxton and his team for their willingness to spend time with Prince students to ensure that they know the proper actions to take if they are ever caught in a fire emergency.

Camper, and Jack Johnston
During the long hot days of summer when many students were attending summer camps or were on vacation with their families, a small group of Prince high school Fine Arts students committed 10 days to travel together to the European country of Estonia to work at Camp Gideon. At this Christian camp, the group used their talents in Fine Arts to share the love of Jesus while teaching English to campers.

Junior Hendley Jones and seniors Emilie David, Jack Johnston, and Riley Wilson began each day at 7:30 a.m. and did not conclude their work until 10:30 p.m. The basics of their routine included teaching English class, arts and crafts, games, and recreation. In the evenings, the group lead worship that included improvisational games, worship songs, the dramatization of a Gospel lesson, sharing by a PACS student, and times of prayer.
Athletics
In the midst of practices and competition, the middle school Lady Wolverines recently planned a special game in which they were joined by the varsity team to express their love and support for one of their teammates and her family.

Seventh-grader Taylor Thomas plays first-base for the middle school softball team. Her father, Matt Thomas, is an assistant coach, and her younger sister Finley is in 3rd-grade at PACS. Brooke Thomas is the wife of Matt, mother of Taylor and Finley, and daughter of Head Varsity Golf Coach Jimmy Phillips. Brooke is currently fighting cancer, and the team wanted to remind the family that they are supported by their Lady Wolverines and PACS family.

The Lady Wolverines invited the visiting team, Jefferson Middle, to participate in a pink out and join in a special time of prayer for the Thomas family.
Faculty
Hale, Hudson, and Wentworth Selected
as GISA Master Teachers
Left to Right: Cindy Hale, Meghan Hudson, and Bob Wentworth
Three teachers from Prince Avenue Christian School were recently selected by the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) as Master Teachers. Second-grade teacher Cindy Hale, High School Art teacher Meghan Hudson, and Middle School Science teacher Bob Wentworth were chosen from over 166 GISA member schools and hundreds of applicants.

The selection process for Master Teacher is challenging and competitive. To be considered for the program, candidates are required to submit an application as well as a portfolio including three tangible examples of outstanding work related to the classroom and to sharing and collaborating with other educators. Among other requirements is an unedited video of the candidate's classroom teaching utilizing best practices and five letters of recommendation.
Mrs. Hale, Mrs. Hudson, and Mr. Wentworth will be honored during the Annual GISA Conference to be held at Tallulah Falls School in Tallulah Falls, Georgia and also at a special Master Teacher Luncheon.

In all, Prince has had eight teachers selected as Master Teachers. Congratulations to these Prince teachers for their exemplary work and for all that they contribute to Prince Avenue Christian School.
