At the Prince home varsity football game held on September 10th, Prince football players and cheerleaders honored local members of the military, veterans, first responders, and medical personnel in a touching pre-game presentation. This special tribute was in memory of those who lost their lives on 9/11 and the War on Terror and in honor of those who continue to sacrifice for the safety of their communities.
The Oconee County Fire Department raised the American flag on their ladder truck in support of the event. Prince parent and school board member, Tommy Murray, who was present in New York on September 11, 2001, led in prayer, and the National Anthem was sung by Prince junior Claire Gann.
Prince Athletic Director Richard Ricketts explains that the goal of the tribute was to show appreciation to local heroes and to help instill in Prince students an understanding of the sacrifices made. "We wanted to show respect for all of the people who take care of us. That's why we did it."
