Through the intercession of Our Lady, may mothers be daily given the grace to answer their call to sacrificial love.
Our Father, 3 Hail Marys, Glory Be
In Mary, we find the model of motherhood. When the angel Gabriel appeared to her, Mary accepted the invitation to be the mother of God. While the path laid before Our Lady was not an easy one, she chose to give of herself in sacrificial love. As an unmarried woman, her unexpected pregnancy left her vulnerable, and Mary’s “yes” to God would ultimately lead her to suffer at the foot of the Cross.
Mothers are similarly called to give of themselves for the sake of their children. Through sleepless nights and busy days, mothers shelter their children within their hearts, constantly providing for their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being in untold ways. In boldly living out their vocation, mothers mirror the sacrificial love of Christ on a daily basis. We pray that Our Lady’s example may strengthen mothers as they labor to build holy families. And may we support all mothers as they nurture the gift of life in our Church and in our world.

The U.S. Senate recently failed to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This legislation would prohibit infanticide by ensuring that a child born alive following an attempted abortion would receive the same degree of care to preserve her or his life and health as would be given to any other child born alive at the same gestational age.
