Together, let us pray

for the people of our congregation...

for those who suffer and those in trouble...

for the concerns of our community...

Donating Items For Foster Girls

The time before and after Christmas is often when we clean out old toys to make room for the new toys. We'd like to take advantage of that and use it as an opportunity to help the foster girls at the Anne Elizabeth Shepard Home. We are still unable to resume our monthly dinners due to COVID, but we would like to send monthly care packages next year until we can get back together. The girls love playing board games, doing puzzles and watching movies.

You can drop off games, puzzles, or movies at the church office from 9am to 3pm, Tuesday - Thursday.

Please make sure ...
*Items are clean/in good shape and all the pieces/parts are included.
*Items are appropriate for girls ages 12-18.
*You are giving items you would be happy for your children to receive.

If you want to purchase toys, movies or puzzles to donate, that would be great too!

Message Notes

Message Title: "Feeding the Spirit"

And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
- 1 Corinthians 10:13b, NLT

I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit’s instructions. He will tell you where to go and what to do, and then you won’t always be doing the wrong things your evil nature wants…
- Galatians 5:16, TLB

How Do I Feed the Spirit?

1. With Prayer.

Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!
- Matthew 26:41, NLT

2. With Scripture.

How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.
- Psalm 119:9, NLT

3. With Community.

Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.
- 1 Corinthians 15:33, NIV

Drive It Home:
*What is your spiritual workout plan?
*Do you have a favorite verse? Is it memorized?
*How is your prayer life?
*Which friendships are helpful? Which are harmful?
Setting Goals For The New Year

"Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty."
- Proverbs 21:5, NLT

Is it okay to set goals as a Christian?

You want to follow God AND achieve goals with purpose. But you're worried that setting goals will lead you away from God’s plans for you. So, you're wondering, "Is it okay to set goals as a Christian? What does God's Word say about how to do this and stay in line with His will?" God has a lot to say about goals, intentional planning, and stewarding well what we've been given.

The short answer: goals are good! Even Jesus had goals. God desires for us to live on purpose, not by accident. The fact that you're asking and seeking His will means you want to do this life well. His Word is about to illuminate for you how to set the right goals and stay motivated to achieve them.

But, don’t expect to find a checklist or a quick-fix formula for goal setting in the Bible. If it were that easy, we might read the list, check it off, and never talk to God about our plans. It's not about following rules, it's about a relationship with the One who created you with unique gifts and talents to use, God Himself.

The alternative to setting good goals? Wandering around aimlessly, letting life happen to you. Think about it. Did any of the key figures in the Bible just sit around doing nothing? Sure, they had their missteps, but Moses, David, Solomon, Esther, Ruth, John, Paul, and Jesus Himself had goals, and they got after them with God’s strength and wisdom.

Let's do the same in 2021, one small step and leap of faith at a time.

Pray with me: Lord, I want to follow You, setting goals that align with your will for my life. Thank you for creating me with unique gifts and talents to use for Your greater purpose. I want to go where you're going. Please show me how to set goals the way you desire. I need your wisdom on planning and purpose so I can steward what you've given me—my time, my money, my work, my relationships, my health—right where I am. Open my eyes to Your truth and help it move from my head to my heart to my hands. In Jesus' name. Amen!

GroupMe is a group texting app that's a great forum for staying connected and asking questions. It can be muted, so you won't get notifications constantly. If you or your student would like to be added, just text or email Nathan at 706-464-7548 and nathan@theridgecolumbus.com.

January Theme - Training Camp

Hi, Parents!
This winter we're offering both in-person and online RidgeRunners experiences.

Toddlers through elementary will meet in the gym for the full 10:30 a.m. service. Check in at the hallway table just inside the Turner Auditorium doors.

Staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and sanitizing hands. Kids will sit only with their siblings on their own personal carpet. Kids must wear masks on their way to and from their carpets in the gym and while we are singing. They may remove their masks while on their carpets and not singing. If a child does not have a mask, we will provide them one at check-in. If you have an only child and want to arrange ahead of time for them to sit with a family friend, please let us know. If you have any questions, please contact Nathan at nathan@theridgecolumbus.com or 706-464-7548.

RidgeRunners will be live at 9:45 a.m. on YouTube. Join us for a game, worship video with dance motions, and a great lesson! You can also watch at any time throughout the week after the livestream.
