Dear Ones,

On this coming Monday, Padre Omar will accompany the bishop and another local priest to the Florence Immigration Court where a worshipper from our noon congregation is being detained by Immigration & Customs Enforcement. His child will be baptized soon into our community and so we want to be present to him as he faces this trial.

I don't know all the details of his particular circumstances, but we are committed, as always, to respecting the dignity of every human being, as our baptismal covenant calls upon us to do. So Omar and the bishop will seek to be the face of those commitments to him and to the courts.

So our prayers, if you would join us in them are:

If he is deported, that it is to someplace even remotely near where he might have connections and support. This has apparently not been the case very often.

That he is being given food and water, and allowed to sleep. That he is given access to his attorney and able to speak with his family. This has apparently also not often been the case in some of these centers.

That he knows he is not alone, and that his family knows the same in this time of fear and uncertainty.

It has become clear that what once was a civil issue has become criminal in our country, even for those who've tried to follow the steps of immigration faithfully. So pray for those who are affected most, who are afraid to leave their homes, who have tried to do things correctly, but are suffering anyway.

We are one, beloveds. Let us pray and act for those who need us most.

El próximo lunes, el padre Omar acompañará al obispo y a otro sacerdote local al Tribunal de Inmigración de Florencia, donde un feligrés de nuestra congregación del mediodía está detenido por el Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas. Su hijo será bautizado pronto en nuestra comunidad, por lo que queremos estar presentes para apoyarlo mientras se enfrenta a este juicio.

Que él sepa que no está solo, y que su familia sepa lo mismo en estos momentos de miedo e incertidumbre.

Ha quedado claro que lo que antes era un asunto civil se ha convertido en un asunto penal en nuestro país, incluso para aquellos que han intentado seguir fielmente los pasos de la inmigración. Así que recen por los más afectados, los que tienen miedo de salir de sus casas, los que han intentado hacer las cosas correctamente, pero que, aun así, están sufriendo.

Somos uno, amados. Oremos y actuemos por aquellos que más nos necesitan.

Guest Preacher next Sunday, August 31! We are thrilled to welcome Archbishop Jeremy Greaves of Brisbane, Australia, to our pulpit on Sunday, August 31 here at Trinity! Archbishop Greaves is making it a point to visit a variety of dioceses around the world wherein meaningful ministry is occurring and he’s chosen The Diocese of Arizona - we are delighted to get to know him.

Archbishop Greaves was elected the tenth Archbishop of Brisbane in August 2023 and was installed in December of that year. The Diocese of Brisbane covers an area of more than a half a million square kilometres, from Bundaberg in north central Queensland to Coolangatta on the New South Wales border and west to the borders of South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Sunday service times return to 8am & 10am in English, 12pm in Spanish on September 7.
Children’s Chapel and Nursery return during the 10am service weekly on September 7.
Wednesday worship returns at 12:10pm weekly on September 10.

Straight from the Heart Art Shows is a non-profit that is a beacon of hope and transformation for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals. This organization humanizes the stories of these individuals. Through these shows, the artists share their journeys and resilience. Ninety percent of the proceeds from art sales go directly to the artists. The funds play a vital role in helping them transition back into society, whether by covering basic hygiene needs while incarcerated or assisting with essential living expenses upon release.

WHEN: First Friday reception, September 5th, 6:00pm - 9:00 pm

Straight from the Heart Art Shows es una organización sin ánimo de lucro que supone un rayo de esperanza y transformación para personas encarceladas y exreclusas. Esta organización humaniza las historias de estas personas. A través de estas exposiciones, los artistas comparten sus trayectorias y su resiliencia. El noventa por ciento de los ingresos obtenidos por la venta de las obras de arte se destina directamente a los artistas. Prayers of the People

Oración de los Fieles

We pray for peace,

for goodwill among nations, and for the well-being of all people. We pray for our President and for the Congress, the Cabinet, and the Supreme Court. We pray for justice and peace, particularly in Gaza, Iran, and in Ukraine.

We ask your prayers for the poor,

the sick, the hungry, the oppressed, and those in prison, particularly those who are being removed from this country without due process and those being removed in spite of being in legal immigration processes. We pray for all those who are afraid in these times.

We commend to your mercy all who have died, that your will for them may be fulfilled; and we pray that we may share with all your saints in your eternal kingdom.

We pray for: Surya, Jeff, Gloria, Jill, Laura.

We give thanks for those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this week.

Oremos para la paz,

por la buena voluntad de naciones, y para el bienestar de todos pueblos. Rezamos por nuestro Presidente y por el Congreso, el Gabinete y el Tribunal Supremo. Rezamos por la justicia y la paz, especialmente en Gaza, Iran, y Ucrania.
