Consider some of these academic and social opportunities once you arrive on campus:
Attend Global Engagement Events
The Global Engagement team oversees all orientation and social programs both before the semester begins and during the academic year. We encourage you to arrive early to take advantage of these events before the semester begins. Events will include: trips to shopping malls, movie screenings, trying new restaurants and much more! All events are optional, at no cost to you and will be led by a current Ohio State student or staff member! Join the New Ohio State International Students - Autumn 2019 Facebook group to stay updated.
Enroll in ESEPSY 2060: Academic Success Strategies for International Students
All international undergraduate students are invited to enroll in this seven-week, credit-bearing course for autumn semester 2019, ESEPSY 2060: Academic Success Strategies for International Students that will be offered during session 1 (August 20-October 7, Tuesday/Thursday, 2:20-3:40 p.m.) and session 2 (October 14-December 4, Tuesday/Thursday, 12:45-2:05 p.m.)
The course is designed to help international students adapt to U.S. academic culture and practice skills needed for success in Ohio State classrooms. Students will also become familiar with a wide variety of campus resources.
Follow the Office of International Affairs and Global Engagement on Social Media
Please consider following the Office of International Affairs' Facebook Page and Global Engagement's Facebook Page and following @OSUGlobal on Instagram and Twitter. The Office of International Affairs uses these pages to promote events, publicize deadlines, announce workshops and communicate news about all things international on campus. Photos and videos from International Affairs events will also be published on this page. Stay in touch with Ohio State's international community through Facebook and Twitter.
Join International Student Organizations
International student organizations play an important role in helping many new international students adjust to their new home at Ohio State. We encourage you to explore existing organizations and see if there is one group or multiple groups that you are interested in connecting to. You can search for existing student organizations online.
Apply To Be an Ohio State Welcome Leader
Every year, the Office of Student Life recruits over 1,000 Ohio State Welcome Leaders (OWLs) to move in early and prepare their residence halls while building community. The OWL program is a great way for students to become part of the Ohio State family and get a jump start into autumn semester. Applications are due on June 30, 11:59 p.m. Apply online.
Keep in mind that if you choose to do the OWL program, you will still need to arrive in time to complete your mandatory immigration check-in and orientation.
