Greetings Friends,

We continue to add educational elements to our Presbytery Gatherings. Thursday, August 23, 2018 is our next Gathering to be held at Edwardsville, IL First Presbyterian Church in their new building! Two pre-sessions will be offered to this half-day gathering:

  • Get out of the Building: Congregational Vitality - Learning your neighborhood. Begins at 10 a.m., and will include traveling about Edwardsville, gathering data and meeting back at the church to have conversation about the results, until the Presbytery meeting begins.
  • Personnel Team Training: Begins at 11 a.m. and will continue until 12 p.m. Carrie Rao, Giddings-Lovejoy Presbytery Personnel Team Moderator, will lead a session for local congregational personnel committees on responsibilities and goal setting.

You will need a separate registration for each of these pre-sessions (in addition to registering for the Gathering). The two educational elements are meant to enrich the work of your ministry and mission by aiding your understanding of the community in which you live, serve and worship. Please consider sending representatives to either of the pre-sessions. We encourage all to stay for the business meeting and the plenary speaker, Bonnie Sue Lewis, who will address the idea of the Missional Church. The day will conclude with worship and celebration of The Lord’s Supper.

Please note that box lunches are provided for those participating in the pre-sessions and are by reservation only.

We welcome any questions that you might have about these and any future educational events. Please contact the Stated Clerk at [email protected] .
