Library Programs - August 2022
As Our Summer Reading Adventure Comes to a Close...
We had an amazing turnout for our Summer Reading Adventure this year. We registered 80 kids, 17 teens, and 20 adults for our reading challenges! Reading logs can be turned in until August 6th. Prizes will be awarded the following week. We thank all of our wonderful families and patrons for supporting the library this summer. Keep reading! And watch for our Fall reading challenge announcements in September.

September Note: The library will be closed on Monday, September 5th for the Labor Day Holiday.
Storytimes with Mrs. Susan
Storytimes will be held each Thursday and will include activities for our preschoolers, as well as board books, puzzles, and puppets for all ages (babies-5 years old). During the summer, older siblings are welcome to join us. Once the library opens, they can read, visit the Lego table or other activities we have set up.

Registration is not required, however it is recommended in case we would need to contact participants of any changes.

Storytimes are set for 11:30 am on Thursdays and take place prior to opening to the public in order to keep the health and well-being of all our youngest readers in mind. If the weather is conducive to being outside, we will hold stories and songs outdoors in the side yard next to the parking lot and then come inside for crafts, activities and social time.

If you would like to meet up with an old friend and have discussions starters for things to look back on fondly, we have activities for you.

Our "Memorable Mondays" will use kits from Bi-Folkal. Kits include DVDs of photos and short stories, CDs for sing along songs and stories, Photographs, and Activity Folders. Library staff will be on hand to assist with the viewing of DVDs and playing CDs. The rest of the activities you get to do at your own pace. Teen Volunteer Opportunities
TEENS (13-17) ONLY:
Our teen volunteers have been hard at work helping staff prepare for programs. Teens who need hours for school or other organizations can work their time at the library. We have some wonderful young adults in the Chartiers-Houston Community! Would your teen like to join them?

If you know of a teen who would like to join our group of volunteers and Teen Advisory Group, have them get in touch with Mrs. Susan at (724) 745-4300 or email [email protected].

Teens who need legal community service hours are also welcome to contact the library. Please speak with Mrs. Susan about the paperwork required to sign up for volunteer time.
