The Lunar New Year is almost here!  January 25th, 2020 begins the Year of the Rat, the first animal of the 12 animal zodiac cycle--so it's a good time for new things.

Which I hope bodes well for my new novel! Yes, the Mulan novel that I've been talking about is finally coming! It's an original prequel to the Disney's live-action movie! I had the pleasure of creating the magical backstories of some of the characters of the movie (like the mysterious witch character, if you've seen the trailer). If you've enjoyed my other novels,  I think you'll like this one too!

I'm so excited about it that I've planned a beautiful pre-order gift, party favor and more! See below for all the details!

Mulan Pre-Order and Launch Party!

Save The Date...  February 9, 2020 is the book launch party!

There is a pre-order gift!!

If you  pre-order the book from Porter Square Books , not only will the book be personally autographed (make sure you put to whom you wish the book to be made to in the comments section when ordering), I will include a beautiful, gold-foil bookmark with this design:

It's bound to give you good luck for the New Year! So pre-order now!

And there's MORE!:

If you come to the Book Party at Porter Square Books on February 9 at 3pm, I will have a special party favor for you.   I have these gorgeous, hand-cut paper greeting cards* (custom-made by the lovely people at  Evergreen Cards ):

And, if that wasn't enough, at the party I'll be having an in-conversation with the lovely Susan Tan (author of Cilla Lee-Jenkins: Future Author Extraordinaire!). So you'll get two authors at one event!

Looking forward to this event...I hope to see everyone there! Don't forget to pre-order!

*Unfortunately, I have a limited supply of these greeting cards, so priority will go to those who pre-order and attend the party. If there are cards left over after the event, I will include them to those who pre-order from out-of-town, but I cannot promise it. But all pre-orders will receive the gold foil bookmark.

Grace Happenings

  • I have finally finished up the art for a set of board books. They are part of the Storytelling Math project, a joint venture with CharlesBridge Publishing and TERC Inc. The books in the project are meld together math, diversity and story--helping kids (and parents) see math is found everywhere not just in numbers at school! Look for the finished books in fall 2020!
  • I took an incredible trip with my family to Taiwan!  Here are a few colorful photos from the adventure! Hope they inspire some new books!

In the World of Podcasts:
*NEW PODCAST ALERT!*
Kids Ask Authors coming soon!
I'm starting a new podcast--this one made for KIDS!
We plan to have a weekly 10-15 minute podcast where myself and a guest author will answer one question from a child reader each week. We hope that this podcast will be useful to all student writers and those helping them on their journey!

Right now,  we are collecting questions from kids! If a child you know has a question they would like to ask an author,  please submit it! You can send it though the submission forms or, if you are tech savvy, send us an audio file.

Submit a question  HERE!
still going strong!
Listen in to hear my childhood best friend, Alvina Ling (aka Melody from    Year of the Dog!), and I talk about all things related to author and editor life, family, what's on our plates at the moment, and what we are most grateful for.

We recently held two Q&A episodes where we answered wonderful questions submitted from our listeners. You can learn some fun facts about Alvina and I if you listen to episodes #42 and #45!

Be sure to listen in every Thursday and check out   bookfriendsforever.com!
