Dear Beaver Families,

On Friday, May 10, 8:00 to 11:45 a.m. 10th grade students who are not attending NuVu will be taking the PreACT in Gym A. There is no fee or pre-registration required. This standardized test will provide baseline data on students' skill development in the areas of reading, English, mathematics, and scientific reasoning and provide an indication of how a student might fare on the actual ACT, normally taken during the latter half of junior year. Students’ results will be scored and shared with students and families over the summer. This test is intended for practice and informational purposes only; scores are not official and will not be used in the college process. More information about the PreACT can be found on the ACT site.

  • There will be no extended time. Since this is a practice test, we want students to have a standard time sample of the test-taking experience. Students will have the opportunity to apply for extended time when they sign up to take the official ACT in their junior year.
  • Students at NuVu this term will be attending NuVu as usual. If students are interested in sitting for a practice, “real” ACT exam, Summit Educational Group offers frequent (and free) test dates locally.

Students need to bring:

  • A calculator (see this list for specifics, but know that almost all calculators used in Beaver classes are acceptable)
  • Two #2 pencils

The rest of the school day will follow the regular schedule; students will attend G Block, lunch and afternoon classes and activities as usual.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly with any questions.
