We must never forget the sacrifices of veterans
|
We thank our veterans, past and present, for their service, their sacrifices, and for protecting our freedom. Since 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary has supported veterans, military, and their families, and we look forward to continuing that legacy into the next century.

Help us celebrate the American Legion Auxiliary's 100th birthday all year long!
|
|
The American Legion Auxiliary turned 100 on Nov. 10! However, the celebrations are just beginning!
There are several ways ALA members are celebrating our huge milestone! When your unit hosts centennial events this year, share pictures on Facebook using #ALA100Celebration.
Another way to honor our birthday is to host a fundraiser on your personal Facebook account. The steps are simple:
- Create a Facebook post as you normally would. Write something like, “The American Legion Auxiliary is celebrating 100 years! I’m hosting a fundraiser in honor of the ALA’s mission of serving veterans, the military, and their families! Please consider making a donation.”
- Click the three dots below the Facebook post and select “support nonprofit.”
- Enter American Legion Auxiliary Foundation Inc. in the search bar and select.
- Click “post” and you are done!
At the unit level host an open house, organize a service project, or have a Legion Family dinner. The options are endless! We have a list of more ideas in the American Legion Auxiliary’s 100th anniversary media toolkit.
You can also celebrate with a monthly gift. What better way to honor the ALA’s centennial than by reaching 100 monthly donors before our 100th National Convention? We need your help to reach our goal! Monthly gifts provide the steady support that veterans, military, and their families need. Join this group of consistent supporters by

Changes to Preamble now reflected in ALA Constitution & Bylaws
|
|
The American Legion National Executive Committee amended the Preamble to honor veterans of all wars. This change was made as a result of the LEGION Act. Under this act, the U.S. government now acknowledges that the military has been involved in at least 12 additional military conflicts not previously recognized. The Legion’s Resolution 1 amends “the Great Wars" to “all wars.” When the Legion changes its Preamble, the Auxiliary automatically changes its too as a result. You can find the updated Preamble in the American Legion Auxiliary’s Constitution & Bylaws on the
national website
.
