This month, Commissioner Garcia led or voted in favor of the following items:

  • Drainage improvements for South Houston: An approved interlocal agreement for drainage improvements within the City of South Houston. The project includes widening and deepening Merilyn Place Ditch from Allen Genoa to Berry Bayou and a detention pond. The estimated $3.4 million project is expected to benefit 50 structures and help reduce street flooding.
  • Resolution recognizing the Holocaust Museum Houston for their work in teaching the dangers of hatred, prejudice, and apathy. Dr. Hy Penn accepted the resolution on behalf of the museum. He is an HMH board member and the son of two Holocaust survivors.
