Building momentum for transformative change

The work is already underway. Since 2019, Precinct 2 became home to the only fully inclusive park in Harris County, three mobile Access2Health health clinics, and the site of major drainage improvement projects like in the Castlewood subdivision.

Together, we’ve accomplished a lot. But we are far from done.

This year, we are upgrading 50 miles of streets throughout the precinct. Also, we expect to complete multiple drainage improvement projects to remove approximately 150 structures from flooding. In 2024, we expect to remove 530 more.

I see a future where Precinct 2 is a premier destination to live, work, and play. Soon, the study phase to transform Sylvan Beach will begin, and plans are underway to improve Challenger 7 Park.

I am honored to have the opportunity to build on this progress for the next four years. Thank you for another opportunity to serve you.

Sincerely,

Commissioner Adrian Garcia

Project updates

This month, multiple Precinct 2 infrastructure projects got the green light in Commissioners Court to move forward.

These include:

  • The West Gulf Bank Road project between I-45 and Airline Drive. This includes a 4-lane boulevard section with 8’ sidewalks on both sides of the street, traffic signals, and drainage improvements. Construction is anticipated to start in late March 2023 and be completed by late 2024.
  • Improvements to sidewalks along Uvalde Road from Wallisville Road to Holly Park Drive.
  • Improvements to the hike-and-bike along Fairmont Parkway from Red Bluff Road to Sylvan Beach Park.

Also, mark your calendar! We'll host a virtual pre-construction meeting for Pine Trails on Feb., 22 at 6:30 p.m.
