PLENARY INFRASTRUCTURE INITIATES PRECONSTRUCTION EFFORTS ON
BELLE CHASSE BRIDGE AND TUNNEL REPLACEMENT PROJECT

BELLE CHASSE, LA, MARCH 1, 2021 - In the first major steps toward construction of the replacement bridge, the Plenary Infrastructure team is currently performing preconstruction activities including the building of roads and creation of project laydown yards in readiness for bridge building in 2021.

Project design finalizations and initial investigative efforts have occurred during 2020. These steps allowed the team to move forward with preconstruction activities. Clearing and grubbing begins this week for this laydown area, which will be located south of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway between the north and southbound portions of LA 23. These activities are anticipated to continue for two to three weeks. Actual construction of the bridge is anticipated to begin in mid-2021 after pile driving tests are completed in March.  Construction is expected to take approximately four years, with the new replacement bridge to be operational in 2024.

A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page located at https://bellechassebridge.com/faqs/ is populated with questions that have been received throughout the introductory phase of the project. The FAQs will receive regular updates as the project team continues to engage with elected officials, parish officials, stakeholders, and members of the community.
