Prelude Email Banner
Greetings!

I'm contacting you to give you advance notice that my peak oil-themed novel, Prelude, will be coming out this fall. You are receiving this email because we've had contact in one of the following ways:
  • You are a reader of my blog, Resource Insights (which many of you probably read on Energy Bulletin), or of my column on Scitizen and we have communicated by email.
  • We've had email correspondence at some point on other matters.
  • We met at an event and exchanged business cards.
I have long maintained that no idea becomes widely dispersed in the public mind until it is infused in the arts. Prelude, I believe, has a good chance to go beyond the peak oil and sustainability communities and reach a much wider audience. That's because those who have read the manuscript--even those who know all about peak oil--have found it a compelling piece of fiction. Though fictional, Prelude, takes place against the backdrop of the oil price spike of 2008 raising key questions about our energy future while engaging readers with a caper that keeps them guessing until the end.
Advance Praise for Prelude

Already personalities well known in the peak oil and sustainability communities have offered their praise forPrelude:

Bart Anderson, Co-Founder & Editor, Energy Bulletin:

For years Kurt Cobb has written insightful commentaries about our energy predicament. Now he's used his insider's knowledge to craft a suspenseful portrait of a world on the edge of peak oil. Warning: After you finish this book, you will not see the world in the same way again.

Richard Heinberg, Senior Fellow, Post Carbon Institute and Author of The Party's Over: Oil, War and the Fate of Industrial Societies:

Prelude conveys the peak oil problem via a story that's both artful and compelling. Attention Hollywood: Option this novel!

If you've been trying to explain your concerns about our energy future to friends and family who just can't manage to slog through pages of depletion analysis, this book might prove to be your best teaching tool.

Jason Bradford, Farmland Manager, Farmland LP, and Peak Oil Activist:

In a style akin to John Grisham's, Cobb's novel Prelude provides a fictionalized portrayal of the oil industry during the 2008 price spike. Whether you are a peak oil expert or not, the story succeeds twice--it is both a page turner with suspense and solid character development, and an excellent elucidation of our oil predicament.
