Adventist Health System announces plans to become AdventHealth
|
Altamonte Springs-based Adventist Health System (AHS), one of the largest faith-based health care systems in the United States, with nearly 50 hospital campuses and more than 80,000 employees, today announced that it will soon become
AdventHealth. With the name change, the health system will move to being one consumer-centric, connected and identifiable national system of care for every stage of life and health.
As part of this transition, all of Adventist Health System’s wholly-owned hospitals and hundreds of care sites across its footprint will adopt the AdventHealth name and logo beginning Jan. 2, 2019. The naming structure will allow consumers to more easily distinguish AdventHealth’s care locations and services. While its name is changing, the organization is not changing in ownership or business structure.

Hospital mergers produce modest Healthcare Supply Chain savings
|
Those of us living in the epicenter of the U.S. Supply Chain often forget that mega mergers are not happening to save on supplies. But it is a very real unintended consequence of these mega mergers to chase supply chain savings.
A new study reports the savings are less than expected and modest at best.
By the numbers:
- Data was from 1,200 Hospitals from 2009-2015
- Hospitals saved approximately 1.5% after integration or $176k per year
- PPI decreased by 2.6%
- Hospitals bought by systems with 51 Hospitals or more saw the most savings

Premier stock soars as fiscal 4th quarter earnings are announced
|
After Premier (
NASDAQ:PINC
) announced pleasing fiscal 2018 fourth-quarter and full-year results, shares jumped 12% as of 11:01 a.m. EDT Tuesday.
Here's a look at the key headline numbers from the company's fiscal fourth quarter:
- Fourth-quarter sales jumped 8% to $434 million. The increase was driven by a 10% increase in supply chain services and a 2% bump in performance services revenue. For context, Wall Street was only expecting $412 million in revenue, so the result was a nice beat.
- Non-GAAP net income rose 35% to $94.8 million, or $0.70 per share. That also compares favorably to the $0.66 in adjusted earnings that the pros had forecast.
