RE:           2019/2020 Crime + Directors & Officers insurance coverage

 

If your club has opted to participate, your club's share of premium for the two insurance policies, both of which became effective back on 01 September. Each of these policies will remain in effect through 31 August, 2020.

 

I sincerely apologize for the significant delays we encountered while finalizing the insurance coverage arrangements for this year.

 

As announced earlier, the Group Insurance policy options for Crime plus Officers & Directors coverage has not changed, while your Skål USA Executive Committee approved replacement of the General Liability policy with an Accident & Health policy. The major benefits of this replacement policy are:

 

Annual Participant Accident Coverage

Covers ALL Skål USA members (even those who join during the year) while participating in any DOMESTIC SKÅL USA meeting or "sponsored" activities.

The underwriter, The Berkley Company has an A+ (Superior) AM Best rating. 

What's included?

$10,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment (Policy Max:  $250,000)

$25,000 Accidental Medical Expense and Dental Expense ($0 Deductible)

What's excluded?

Any alcohol or drug related injuries or accidents.

Travel outside of the USA

Medical coverage is "excess", meaning it's secondary to primary medical insurance.  However, a primary insurance deductible or co-pay could potentially be claimed under this policy, making a member whole.

Benefits to members

Provides "peace of mind" to local club board members as it significantly reduces the club's liability and chances of being sued if a member is hurt at a club meeting or event.

 

THE REALLY BIG DEAL

The Executive Committee of Skål USA elected to pay the annual premium from General Membership Funds and make this particular insurance coverage an additional benefit of membership for every Skål USA Club member.

 

Directors & Officers (D&O) coverage for 2019/2020 is $178.93 per participating club while the Crime coverage for the same time period is $69.16 per club for a total of $248.09.

 

This $248.09 is reflected in the attached invoice.
