Prepare 2023!!! 12/20/22
Proverbs 24:27 (KJV)
27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
Well, it is that time of year again-and I don't mean Christmas!!
I am looking ahead to 2023.
I have always been drawn to the above Scripture-enraptured by it.
Old common sense would say, “don't put your horse before the cart.
In my mind's eye I can see Brother Harry Mushegan uttering a thought that has stood the test of time:
“YOU ARE TODAY WHAT YOU ENVISIONED YESTERDAY!!!!!”
I well remember the days, weeks, months and even years I labored to achieve any success God afforded me.
I remember the early days when I would come home from working my shift at the Poat Office and lock myself in my bedroom to PRAY.
I remember the many years rising before dawn to read my Bible and PRAY before leaving to work my job.
I remember the little concrete building behind my house where I hosted predawn PRAYER MEETINGS in bitter cold with our only heat from blankets and a little electric heater!!
I remember living a quarter mile from the Church I was employed by.
Night after night I would walk the rows of pews, PRAYING over every seat and visualizing EVERY note of the songs we would perform.
Proverbs 24:27 (KJV)
27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
I'm talking today to YOU concerning the upcoming year-2023.
It is time/it that season to PREPARE.
PREPARE-a primitive root; properly to be erect (i.e. stand perpendicular); hence (causative) to set up, in a great variety of applications, whether literal (establish, fix, prepare, apply), or figurative (appoint, render sure, proper or prosperous) :- certain (-ty), confirm, direct, faithfulness, fashion, fasten, firm, be fitted, be fixed, frame, be meet, ordain, order, perfect, (make) preparation, prepare (self), provide, make provision, (be, make) ready, right, set (aright, fast, forth), be stable, (e-) stablish, stand, tarry, × very deed. Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
In my mind I can see the scenes from one of the EXCELLENT Kendrick Brothers movies, FACING THE GIANTS.
The scene is an older gentleman walking the halls of the local high school DAILY!!
As he walks, he lays his hands on every student's locker, PRAYING for revival.
This he had done FAITHFULLY for a long, long time.
When confronted about this seemingly thankless task, he replied with a story:
“Two farmers were in desperate need of rain.
One farmer PREPARED his field in PREARATION of rain, the other didn't...............”
Which farmer are you??????
God will send the rain when He is ready-
YOU NEED TO PREPARE YOUR FIELD TO RECEIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Or, as someone much wiser than me remarked:
“WE PLAN TO FAIL WHEN WE FAIL TO PLAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
It is time to begin thinking and meditating and PRAYING over the New Year.
Proverbs 24:27 (KJV)
27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
I will spend-LORD WILLING-the next several sermons teaching you how to PREPARE.
It is time to WRITE OUT YOUR NEW YEAR PRAYER FOR 2023.
OH!!! BTW!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
God Bless You,
Pastor Doug
