A major winter storm is expected to impact our region on Tuesday, bringing heavy, wet snow and the potential for widespread, prolonged power outages. Read more on what to expect. >>>

REC is fully prepared and taking action now:

  • Crews & Materials Pre-Staged Crews will be in position by Tuesday morning, ready to respond as soon as it is safe. We have pre-staged critical materials like poles and crossarms for quick restoration response times.
  • Additional Crews Secured – REC has requested extra contractor crews and mutual aid support from other electric cooperatives to assist with storm response.

We urge you to prepare now to keep your family safe:

Plan for a power outage

  • Charge phones and devices in advance.
  • Gather blankets, flashlights, batteries, and emergency supplies.
  • If you use medical equipment that requires power, finalize your backup plan now.

Stay informed

  • Report outages quickly by texting OUT to 63273 or using the MyREC SmartHub app.
  • Bookmark our Outage Center for real-time updates.

Use generators safely

  • Never run a generator indoors or in an enclosed space.
  • Follow proper setup procedures to prevent electrical hazards.

Heavy snow can damage power lines and poles, causing extended outages. REC is ready, but we encourage all members to take this storm seriously.
