A Message from the VP

Good Morning,

The implementation of the new Inspection standards is October 1, 2025. In preparation for the change, Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority secured a national trainer to give you the very latest on NSPIRE-V. Two sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, September 24 at our HCV Administrative Office. The space is limited, so only one person per management group or organization will be allowed to attend. There is a $100 fee to attend, and registrations will be confirmed when the payment is received. Full details and registration information can be found at the following links: AM Session NSPIRE-V CMHA U or PM Session NSPIRE-V PM

On a related note, many units are failing inspections because of the new smoke alarm requirements that went into effect January 1, 2025. The NSPIRE-V requirement is that every subsidized unit must have smoke detectors with a 10-year sealed battery, or they must be hard-wired. One unit could have five detectors or more because they are now required inside each bedroom, within 21 feet of any door to a bedroom measured along a path of travel (ie: hallways), and on each level of the unit.

In June, the online RTA Process rolled out. We are seeing success and hiccups with the process. Please continue to check your email for information on the common mistakes to avoid so your submissions will not be rejected. The Housing Choice Voucher Program is moving closer to going paperless. I will be talking about the implemented changes and those that are upcoming at information sessions across the county. There are four currently scheduled at local libraries in the month of September. Please consider joining me at one that is convenient for you. Click the library location below to register to attend that meeting.

Do you have a landlord you’d like us to spotlight? CMHA staff, voucher holders, partner organizations and landlords can suggest property owners and managers for this recognition. If you have a suggestion, please indicate why this person(s) should be recognized. Email the details and photos (if available) to this link: HCV Help.

Kind regards,

Lisa Isham
