Greetings!

You’ve Been Matched with Your Roommate

You’ve officially been matched with your roommate—an exciting step as you prepare for life on campus. It’s completely normal to feel a mix of emotions at this stage, whether that’s excitement, nerves, or both.

For many students, this is their first time sharing a living space. Starting the conversation early can help set a positive tone for the year ahead.

Getting Started

Reach out early

Send a quick message to introduce yourself. You might share where you’re from, what you’re looking forward to at Wake Forest, or a few of your interests.

Talk through the basics

Begin discussing move-in plans and who might bring shared items (like a rug or TV). It can also be helpful to compare general preferences—sleep schedules, study habits, music, and guests.

Keep an open mind

You don’t need to have everything figured out right away. Many routines and agreements will take shape once you’re living together.

You Have Support

It’s okay if the first conversation feels a little awkward—that’s a normal part of getting to know someone new. Throughout the year, your Resident Adviser (RA) and the Residence Life & Housing team are here to support you.

Building a roommate relationship takes time. Starting with open, respectful communication creates a strong foundation for a successful year.

We’re excited to welcome you to campus and support you as you begin this next chapter.

If you have questions along the way, don’t forget our website housing.wfu.edu/incoming and know that we’re here to partner with you—feel free to reach out at housing@wfu.edu or 336.758.5185.

Looking forward to welcoming you home to The Forest!
