Aloha Kakou,

This Tuesday, August 7th, Hawai'i County Council meets in Committees and public input through testimony in support of the economic recovery of Paho a, Volcano Village, and Puna is vital. Please consider testifying at either Council Chambers in Hilo or at Council Four office in Pahoa. Council NEEDS to hear what we have to say if we are to successfully advance our economic recovery.

There are two Committee meetings that are relevant to the economic recovery:
The first is the Planning Committee meeting which convenes at 9:00am. The item is number 8 on the Planning Agenda.
* 8. Comm. 1012: Discussion: concerns from representatives of Leilani Subdivision, Pāhoa & Volcano Business Communities re eruption and County's management of emergency declaration
The second is Governmental Relations and Economic Development Committee which will convene at approximately 11:00am. The most relevant is number 14 on the Agenda. I also believe that number 15 should be supported as well, the naming of Fissure 8.
* 14. Comm. 1017: Discussion on Eruption Recovery Efforts & Proposed Legislative Package, Mayor Harry Kim
* 15. Res. 640-18: Urges State to consult with Puna Families to establish name for Fissure 8 Vent, etc., S. Lee Loy
Comm. 985.4: Presentation by Pi'ilani Ka'awaloa on naming Fissure 8.

The business community and more importantly the residents, really need to step up and let their voices be heard at the Council level, now is the time!!

Wim Wenders' new documentary, "Pope Francis - A Man of His Word," is intended to be a personal journey with Pope Francis, rather than a biographical documentary about him.
The pope's ideas and his message are central to this documentary, which sets out to present his work of reform and his answers to today's global questions. From his deep concern for the poor and wealth inequality, to his involvement in environmental issues and social justice, Pope Francis engages the audience face-to-face and calls for peace.
